5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
The FS-i6X transmitter requires 4 x 1.5V AA batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment on the back of the transmitter and insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
5.2 Binding (Transmitter to Receiver)
The FS-i6X transmitter and FS-iA10B receiver are typically pre-bound from the factory. You should not need to bind them again upon receipt. However, if re-binding is necessary, follow these steps:
- Ensure the transmitter is powered off.
- Connect the bind plug to the B/VCC port on the FS-iA10B receiver.
- Apply power to the receiver (e.g., via an ESC or external battery). The receiver's LED should flash rapidly.
- While holding down the 'BIND KEY' button on the FS-i6X transmitter, power on the transmitter.
- The transmitter's screen should indicate binding progress. Once bound, the receiver's LED will become solid.
- Release the 'BIND KEY' button and power off both the transmitter and receiver.
- Remove the bind plug from the receiver.
- Power on the transmitter first, then the receiver. The receiver's LED should be solid, indicating a successful bind.
5.3 Connecting the Receiver
Connect your servos, ESCs, and other components to the appropriate channels on the FS-iA10B receiver. Refer to the markings on the receiver for channel assignments (CH1-CH10, i-BUS, SENS, B/VCC).
5.4 How to Setup 10 Channels
The FS-i6X transmitter defaults to 6 channels. To enable all 10 channels, follow these steps:
- Long press the OK button for 2 seconds to enter the main menu setting.
- Navigate to and select System setup to enter.
- Scroll down to the last item, Aux SWitches (auxiliary switch setting), and enter.
- Set switches SwA, B, C, D to On to activate them.
- Change the channel assignment from Ch6 to Ch10.
- Long press the CANCH key to automatically save the settings and exit the menu.
6. Operating
6.1 Basic Operation
To power on the transmitter, press and hold the power button until the LCD screen illuminates. To power off, press and hold the power button again until the screen turns off. Always ensure your model's power is off before powering off the transmitter.
6.2 Mode-2 Configuration
This FS-i6X transmitter is configured for Mode-2, which means the left stick controls throttle and rudder, while the right stick controls aileron and elevator. This is a common configuration for RC aircraft.
6.3 Simulator Connection
The FS-i6X supports connection to PC-based flight simulators. Use the provided upgrade cable to connect the transmitter's PS/2 port to your computer's USB port. This allows you to practice flying skills without risking your physical model. Note that simulator software must be purchased separately.
7. Maintenance
- Keep the transmitter and receiver clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Store the equipment in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Remove batteries from the transmitter if it will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
- Regularly check all cables and connectors for wear or damage.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Check battery installation and ensure batteries have sufficient charge.
- No Control/Intermittent Control: Verify that the transmitter and receiver are properly bound. Check all connections between the receiver and your model's components. Ensure there is no significant interference in your operating area.
- Receiver LED Flashing: This usually indicates the receiver is not bound to the transmitter or has lost signal. Re-bind the receiver to the transmitter if necessary.
- Display Issues: If the LCD display is dim or unreadable, check battery voltage.
