3. Setup Instructions
3.1 Unpacking and Initial Cleaning
- Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Wash the jug, funnel, and lid (excluding the filter life counter mechanism) with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. The jug and funnel are dishwasher safe (top rack only). The lid should be hand-washed to protect the filter life counter.
3.2 Preparing the Filter Cartridge
- Remove the A5 filter cartridge from its protective packaging.
- Immerse the new filter cartridge in cold water for approximately 5-10 minutes to remove any air bubbles. This ensures optimal filtration performance.
3.3 Assembling the Jug
- Insert the funnel into the jug.
- Firmly insert the prepared A5 filter cartridge into the opening of the funnel until it sits securely.
- Place the lid onto the jug, ensuring it is properly seated.
3.4 Initial Filtration
- Fill the funnel with cold tap water. Allow the water to filter through completely.
- Discard the first two full jugs of filtered water. This primes the filter and removes any loose carbon particles.
- The jug is now ready for regular use.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Filling the Jug
To fill the jug, simply open the flip-top lid and pour cold tap water into the funnel. The water will automatically filter into the main jug reservoir. Do not overfill the funnel beyond the maximum fill line.

4.2 Filter Life Counter
The lid of your AQUAPHOR Provence jug is equipped with a mechanical filter life counter. This indicator helps you track when to replace the filter cartridge. When installing a new filter, manually reset the counter according to the instructions provided on the lid or filter packaging. The counter will gradually indicate the remaining filter life.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Jug
Regular cleaning of your jug, funnel, and lid is recommended. The jug and funnel are dishwasher safe (top rack only). The lid, due to its electronic filter life counter, should be hand-washed with warm soapy water and rinsed thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
5.2 Filter Cartridge Replacement
The A5 filter cartridge has a capacity of up to 350 liters or approximately 2-3 months of use, depending on water quality and consumption. Replace the filter cartridge when the filter life indicator shows it is depleted, or if you notice a decrease in filtration speed or water quality.
To replace the filter:
- Remove the old filter cartridge from the funnel.
- Prepare a new A5 filter cartridge as described in Section 3.2.
- Insert the new filter into the funnel and reset the filter life counter on the lid.
- Perform the initial filtration steps (discarding the first two jugs of water) as described in Section 3.4.

5.3 Storage
If the jug will not be used for an extended period, remove the filter cartridge, dry all components, and store them in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight. When resuming use, install a new filter cartridge and follow the initial setup instructions.
6. Troubleshooting
- Slow Filtration: This can occur if the filter cartridge is clogged or if air bubbles are trapped. Ensure the filter was properly pre-soaked (Section 3.2). If the issue persists, the filter may need replacement.
- Unpleasant Taste/Odor: If the filtered water has an unusual taste or odor, the filter cartridge may be exhausted and requires replacement. Ensure the first two jugs of water were discarded after new filter installation.
- Water Leaking from Filter Area: Ensure the filter cartridge is firmly seated in the funnel. If the problem continues, check for any damage to the funnel or filter.
- Filter Life Counter Not Working: Check if the counter was reset correctly after installing a new filter. If it remains unresponsive, contact customer support.
