Safety Information

Your HJC i90 helmet is designed to provide significant protection. For your safety, always ensure the helmet is properly fitted and securely fastened before riding. Never ride with the chin bar in the open position. This helmet is CE 22.05 "P/J" approved, indicating compliance with European safety standards for both full-face (P) and open-face (J) configurations.

  • Always wear a helmet that fits snugly and comfortably.
  • Ensure the chin strap is securely fastened using the micrometric buckle.
  • Do not modify the helmet in any way, as this may compromise its protective capabilities.
  • Replace your helmet after any impact, even if visible damage is not apparent.

Setup

1. Fitting Your Helmet

Select the correct size based on your head circumference. The helmet should fit snugly around your head without causing pressure points. Refer to the size chart below for guidance:

  • XS: 53-54 cm
  • S: 55-56 cm
  • M: 57-58 cm
  • L: 59-60 cm
  • XL: 61-62 cm
  • XXL: 63-64 cm
  • XXXL: 65 cm

2. Chin Bar Operation

To open the chin bar, locate the release button at the front of the chin bar, typically near the center. Press the button and lift the chin bar upwards until it locks into the fully open 90-degree position. To close, firmly pull the chin bar down until it clicks securely into place. Always ensure it is fully latched before riding.

3. Visor Installation and Removal (RapidFire™ System)

The HJ-33 clear visor can be removed and installed quickly without tools using the RapidFire™ system.

  1. Removal: Open the visor fully. Locate the release levers on each side of the visor mechanism. Push the levers to release the visor from its pivots.
  2. Installation: Align the visor's pivot points with the helmet's mechanism. Press firmly until you hear a click, indicating it is securely locked on both sides. Test the visor movement to ensure proper installation.

4. Pinlock® Anti-Fog Insert Installation

The HJ-33 Pinlock® ready visor comes with pins to attach the anti-fog insert.

  1. Flex the main visor slightly to flatten it.
  2. Align the Pinlock® insert's silicone seal with the pins on the main visor.
  3. Press the insert onto the pins, ensuring the silicone seal creates a tight vacuum seal against the main visor.
  4. Release the main visor to allow the Pinlock® to sit flush.

5. Sun Visor Operation

The HJ-V9 internal sun visor is operated by a slider located on the side of the helmet (typically left side). Slide it down to deploy the sun visor and up to retract it. This visor is anti-fog and anti-scratch for clear vision.

6. Communication System Integration

The HJC i90 is designed to be compatible with Smart HJC Bluetooth communication systems (20B or 10B). Follow the specific installation instructions provided with your Smart HJC system for proper integration. The helmet also features internal grooves to comfortably accommodate eyeglasses.

Operating Instructions

1. Ventilation System

The helmet features multiple vents for airflow.

  • Top Vent: Slide the lever on the top of the helmet forward to open the top vent and allow air intake. Slide it backward to close.
  • Chin Vent: Push the lever on the chin bar upwards to open the chin vent for direct airflow to the visor and face. Push it downwards to close.

2. Micrometric Buckle Fastening

To fasten the chin strap:

  1. Insert the notched strap into the micrometric buckle until it is snug against your chin.
  2. To release, pull the red tab on the buckle to disengage the mechanism and pull the strap out.

Ensure the strap is tight enough so the helmet cannot be easily pulled off your head.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Helmet Shell

Clean the helmet shell with a soft cloth, mild soap, and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's finish and materials. Rinse thoroughly and air dry.

2. Visor Care

Clean the HJ-33 clear visor and HJ-V9 sun visor with a soft, lint-free cloth and lukewarm water. A mild soap can be used for stubborn dirt. Do not use abrasive materials or window cleaners, which can damage the anti-scratch and anti-fog coatings.

3. Interior Care

The "Super Cool" interior lining is fully removable and washable.

  1. Carefully detach all interior pads (cheek pads, crown pad) from the helmet.
  2. Hand wash the pads in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
  3. Allow the pads to air dry completely before re-installing them into the helmet.

4. Storage

Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use a helmet bag to protect it from dust and scratches. Do not store the helmet near chemicals or solvents.

Troubleshooting

  • Visor Fogging: Ensure the Pinlock® anti-fog insert is correctly installed and sealed. Open the chin vent or top vent to increase airflow.
  • Chin Bar Not Locking: Ensure no debris is obstructing the locking mechanism. Firmly push the chin bar down until it clicks into place. If issues persist, inspect the mechanism for damage.
  • Discomfort/Pressure Points: Re-check your helmet size against the size chart. Ensure the interior pads are correctly seated. If discomfort persists, the helmet size or shape may not be suitable for your head.
  • Visor Scratches: Always clean visors with a soft cloth and appropriate cleaners. Avoid wiping dry or using abrasive materials. Replace heavily scratched visors for optimal visibility.
