5. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Placement: Place the scale on a firm, level, and stable surface, away from direct sunlight, drafts, and vibrations.
- Assembly:
- Attach the iron bracket to the scale body using the provided screws, if not already assembled.
- Carefully place the weighing pan onto the bracket. Ensure it sits securely and does not wobble.
- Leveling: Use the adjustable leveling feet on the bottom of the scale to ensure the bubble in the integrated level indicator (Figure 4.4) is centered. This is crucial for accurate measurements.
- Power Connection:
- AC Power: Connect the provided power adapter to the DC input port (Figure 4.6) on the side of the scale, then plug it into a suitable electrical outlet (100-240V).
- Battery Power (Optional): For portable use, install a 9V battery (not included) into the battery compartment on the bottom of the scale (Figure 4.7).
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Power On/Off
- Press the ON/OFF button to turn the scale on. The display will show "88888" then "0.0g".
- Press and hold the ON/OFF button for a few seconds to turn the scale off.
6.2 Basic Weighing
- Ensure the scale is on and displays "0.0g".
- Place the item to be weighed gently onto the center of the weighing pan.
- Read the stable weight displayed on the LCD screen.
6.3 Tare Function
The Tare function allows you to subtract the weight of a container, so only the net weight of the contents is measured.
- Place an empty container on the weighing pan. The display will show its weight.
- Press the TARE/ZERO button. The display will reset to "0.0g".
- Add the items to be weighed into the container. The display will show the net weight of the items.
- To clear the tare, remove the container and press TARE/ZERO again, or turn the scale off and on.
6.4 Unit Selection
The scale supports multiple weighing units.
- Press the UNIT button to cycle through available units: g (grams), ct (carats), oz (ounces), lb (pounds), ozt (troy ounces), tol (tola), dwt (pennyweights), mm (momme), kg (kilograms), %.
- The selected unit will be indicated on the LCD display.
6.5 Piece Counting (PCS)
The PCS function allows you to count a large number of identical items.
- Place a sample quantity of items (e.g., 10, 20, 50, or 100 pieces) on the pan.
- Press and hold the PCS button until a number (e.g., "25" or "50") appears on the display.
- Press the UNIT button to select the sample quantity that matches the number of items you placed on the pan.
- Press PCS again to confirm. The display will now show the count of the sample.
- Add more items of the same type to the pan, and the scale will display the total count.
- To exit piece counting mode, press the UNIT button.
7. Calibration
For optimal accuracy, especially after initial setup, relocation, or significant temperature changes, the scale should be calibrated. This scale requires a 10,000g (10kg) calibration weight.
- Ensure the scale is on a stable, level surface and displays "0.0g".
- Press and hold the CAL button for approximately 5 seconds. The display will show "CAL" followed by the required calibration weight, which is typically "10000g".
- Carefully place a certified 10,000g (10kg) calibration weight onto the center of the weighing pan.
- The scale will process the calibration. Once complete, it will return to normal weighing mode, displaying "0.0g".
- Remove the calibration weight.
- Important Note: The accuracy of your calibration depends on the precision of the calibration weight used. A Class 1 or F1 10kg weight is recommended for best results. Calibration should be performed regularly to maintain accuracy.
8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the scale surface and weighing pan with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the scale in a clean, dry, and stable environment. Remove the 9V battery if using battery power.
- Pan Removal: To remove the weighing pan for cleaning, gently rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise (as if following the hour hand) before lifting. Do not lift directly upwards to avoid damaging the sensor.
9. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Scale does not turn on. | No power or low battery. | Check power adapter connection. If using battery, replace 9V battery. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Not level, unstable surface, drafts, needs calibration, overloaded. | Ensure scale is level and on a stable surface. Avoid drafts. Perform calibration (Section 7). Do not exceed 20,000g. |
| Display shows "EEEE". | Overload error. | Remove excess weight from the pan. Do not exceed 20,000g. |
| Display shows "Lo". | Low battery indicator. | Replace the 9V battery or use the AC power adapter. |
| Display is unstable or fluctuates. | Unstable environment, vibrations, drafts, electromagnetic interference. | Relocate the scale to a more stable environment. Ensure no fans or air conditioning vents are blowing directly on the scale. Keep away from electronic devices. |
