Setup
Your 1Zpresso JX-Pro grinder comes pre-calibrated and assembled. Before first use, it is recommended to clean the grinder to remove any manufacturing residues.
Initial Cleaning:
- Unscrew the catch cup from the bottom of the grinder.
- Remove the top crank handle and the top cap.
- Carefully disassemble the internal burr set by unscrewing the adjustment dial.
- Use the included brush to clean all components, especially the burrs, to remove any dust or debris. Avoid using water on the burrs.
- Reassemble the grinder, ensuring all parts are securely in place.
Adjusting Grind Settings:
The JX-Pro features an external adjustment ring. To change the grind size:
- Hold the grinder firmly.
- Rotate the adjustment dial located on the top of the grinder. Turning clockwise results in a finer grind, while turning counter-clockwise results in a coarser grind.
- Each click represents a 12.5 micron change in grind size. There are 40 clicks per full rotation, offering over 200 settings.
- Refer to the grind setting reference chart (often provided by 1Zpresso or found online) for recommended starting points for different brewing methods.

Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to grind your coffee beans:
Grinding Process:
- Prepare Beans: Measure the desired amount of whole coffee beans. The JX-Pro has a capacity of approximately 35g (depending on bean type).
- Load Beans: Remove the top cap and pour the measured beans into the hopper. Replace the top cap and attach the crank handle.
- Set Grind Size: Adjust the grind setting according to your preferred brewing method (refer to the "Adjusting Grind Settings" section).
- Grind Coffee: Hold the grinder body firmly with one hand and rotate the crank handle clockwise with the other. Continue grinding until all beans have passed through the burrs and into the catch cup.
- Collect Grounds: Unscrew the catch cup from the bottom of the grinder to access your freshly ground coffee.
Grind Setting Reference (General Guidelines):
- Turkish: Very fine (e.g., 0-1 rotation, 0-8 clicks)
- Espresso: Fine (e.g., 1-2 rotations, 8-16 clicks)
- AeroPress/Moka Pot/Drip Coffee Maker: Medium (e.g., 2-3 rotations, 16-28 clicks)
- Siphon/Pour Over: Medium-Coarse (e.g., 3-4 rotations, 28-40 clicks)
- French Press: Coarse (e.g., 4-5 rotations, 40-48 clicks)
Note: These are general guidelines. Optimal settings may vary based on coffee bean type, roast level, and personal preference. Experiment to find your "sweet spot."

Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures consistent performance and extends the lifespan of your grinder.
Cleaning Procedure:
- Disassemble the grinder completely (refer to Figure 3 in Product Overview).
- Use the provided cleaning brush to remove all coffee grounds from the burrs, shaft, and internal components.
- For stubborn oils or residue, a dry cloth can be used. Do NOT wash the burrs or metal components with water, as this can lead to rust and damage.
- Wipe down the exterior of the grinder with a damp cloth if necessary, then dry thoroughly.
- Reassemble the grinder. Due to its design, recalibration is generally not needed after cleaning.
Troubleshooting
- Grinder feels stiff or difficult to turn:
- Check for large foreign objects (e.g., small stones) among the coffee beans.
- Ensure the grind setting is not too fine for the beans being used, which can cause excessive resistance.
- Clean the burrs thoroughly, as accumulated coffee oils and fines can cause stiffness.
- Inconsistent grind size:
- Verify that all components are assembled correctly and securely tightened.
- Ensure the adjustment dial is not loose or shifting during grinding.
- Clean the burrs to remove any blockages that might affect consistency.
- Beans not feeding into burrs:
- Check if the hopper is overloaded.
- Ensure the beans are not excessively oily, which can cause them to stick.
