Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before using this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

  • A 5V, 2A power adapter is required for optimal charging and to prevent damage to the radio.
  • Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or high humidity.
  • Keep the device away from water and other liquids.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the radio. This will void the warranty and may cause damage.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Setup

Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 3 AAA batteries (not included) into the designated slots, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Initial Charging

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the internal 5000mAh Li-ion battery using the USB-C cable.

  1. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the radio's USB-C input port.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a 5V, 2A USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The charging indicator lights will illuminate to show charging status.
  4. Charging is complete when all indicator lights are solid.

Operating Instructions

Radio Operation (AM/FM/SW/NOAA)

  1. Turn the VOLUME knob clockwise to power on the radio and adjust the volume.
  2. Extend the telescopic antenna for better reception.
  3. Rotate the BAND knob to select your desired band: SW (Shortwave), AM, FM, or WB (Weather Band).
  4. For WB (Weather Band), tune to your local NOAA station using the TUNING knob. The radio has 7 pre-set NOAA channels.
  5. For AM/FM/SW, rotate the TUNING knob to find your desired station.

Light Functions (Flashlight, Reading Lamp)

  1. Flashlight: Press the flashlight button on the side of the radio to turn it on. Press again to adjust brightness or turn off.
  2. Reading Lamp: Lift the solar panel cover to reveal the reading lamp. Press the reading lamp button on the side to turn it on. Press again to adjust brightness or turn off.

SOS Alarm

In an emergency, press and hold the red SOS button on the side of the radio to activate the 116dB siren and flashing red beacon. Release the button to deactivate.

Charging External Devices

The radio's internal 5000mAh Li-ion battery can act as a power bank to charge your mobile devices.

  1. Open the rubber flap on the side of the radio to access the USB output port.
  2. Connect your device's charging cable to the USB output port (5V/1A).
  3. The radio will begin charging your device.

Power Options

The Mesqool MQL-CR1009-Y offers five versatile ways to power the device, ensuring continuous operation in any situation:

  • Internal 5000mAh Li-ion Battery: The primary power source, rechargeable via USB-C, solar, or hand crank.
  • Solar Panel: Place the radio in direct sunlight to slowly charge the internal battery.
  • Hand Crank: Rotate the hand crank on the back of the radio to generate power and charge the internal battery.
  • USB-C Input: Connect the provided USB-C cable to a 5V/2A power adapter for fast charging.
  • 3 AAA Batteries: Insert 3 AAA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment as a backup power source. Use the 'POWER AAA' switch to select this option.
