2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the printer from its packaging. Ensure all packing materials and protective tapes are removed from the exterior and interior of the printer. Verify that all included components are present:

2.2 Power Connection

  1. Connect the power cord to the printer's power input.
  2. Plug the other end of the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  3. Press the power button on the printer's control panel to turn it on.

2.3 Initial Ink Cartridge Installation

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Loading Paper

Load paper into the rear paper feeder. The printer supports a maximum input sheet capacity of 100 sheets. Supported paper sizes include 3.5" x 5", 4" x 6", 5" x 7", 8" x 10", Letter, Legal, A4, B5, A5, A6, half letter, executive, and user-definable sizes (3.5" – 44" in length).

3.2 Printing Documents

  • From a Computer: Select "Print" from your application, choose the Epson WF-2850, and adjust settings as needed (e.g., color, black and white, 2-sided printing).
  • From a Mobile Device: Use the Epson Smart Panel app or your device's native printing function (e.g., AirPrint for iOS, Mopria Print Service for Android) to print wirelessly.
  • The printer supports automatic 2-sided printing to save paper.

3.3 Scanning Documents

Place documents on the flatbed scanner or in the Auto Document Feeder (ADF). The WF-2850 includes Epson ScanSmart scanning software to create searchable PDFs and manage scanned files.

3.4 Copying Documents

Place the document on the scanner glass or in the ADF. Use the printer's control panel to select the "Copy" function and adjust settings such as number of copies, color/black and white, and paper size.

3.5 Faxing Documents

Load the document into the ADF. Use the control panel to enter the recipient's fax number and initiate the fax transmission.

3.6 Voice-Activated Printing

4. Maintenance

4.1 Replacing Ink Cartridges

The WF-2850 uses individual ink cartridges (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow). Replace only the color that is empty. The printer's display will indicate when a cartridge needs replacement. Follow the on-screen instructions for safe and proper replacement.
