Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, assembly, and maintenance of your MALOUF E255 Upholstered Adjustable Bed Base. Please read this manual thoroughly before setup and use, and retain it for future reference.

Important Safety Information

WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, burns, fire, or injury, always unplug the bed base from the electrical outlet before cleaning or servicing. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. Do not operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.

CAUTION:

  • Ensure proper assembly to prevent instability or collapse.
  • Be aware of potential pinch points or sharp edges, especially when adjusting the head and foot inclines.
  • This product has a maximum weight capacity of 750 pounds. Do not exceed this limit.
  • Keep a safe distance from the bed to prevent tripping over the zero-clearance design.
  • Children and pets should not be left unattended near the bed base.
  • Do not allow children to operate the remote control.

Before beginning assembly, ensure all components are present and undamaged. If any parts are missing or damaged, do not proceed with assembly and contact customer support.

Setup and Assembly

The MALOUF E255 Adjustable Bed Base is designed for convenient shipping and storage, folding in half. Assembly primarily involves unfolding the base and attaching the legs and mattress retainer bar.

Step 1: Unpack and Unfold

Carefully remove the bed base from its packaging. Place the folded base on a flat, clear surface. Unfold the base completely until it lies flat. Ensure all locking mechanisms (if any) are engaged to secure the two halves.

Step 2: Attach Legs

Screw the provided 12-inch legs into the designated threaded holes on the underside of the bed base. Hand-tighten firmly. Ensure all legs are securely attached and the base is stable.

Note: For a zero-clearance setup, the legs can be removed, allowing the base to be placed directly on foundations, platform bases, or slat beds. Ensure the supporting structure is robust enough for the bed base and mattress weight.

Step 3: Install Mattress Retainer Bar

Locate the slots at the foot end of the bed base. Insert the mattress retainer bar into these slots. This bar helps keep the mattress in place during adjustments.

Plug the power cord from the bed base into a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the cord is not pinched or tangled.
