The SW-709N is a digital stopwatch designed for various timing applications. It features an IPX4 drip-proof rating, a large LCD display, and an EL backlight for visibility in low-light conditions. It also includes date, time, alarm, and hourly chime functions.

2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation

The stopwatch operates on one CR-2032 coin battery. The battery included with the product is for testing purposes only and may have a limited lifespan. For regular use, it is recommended to replace it with a new battery.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the stopwatch.
  2. Using a small screwdriver, carefully open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert one CR-2032 coin battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Securely close the battery compartment cover.

    • In time display mode, press and hold the MODE button until the display flashes.
    • Use the SPLIT/RESET button to adjust the flashing value.
    • Press the START/STOP button to move to the next setting (e.g., seconds, minutes, hours, day, month, year, 12/24h format).
    • Once all settings are complete, press the MODE button to exit setting mode.

3.3 Stopwatch Function

The stopwatch can measure time up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds, with a minimum measurement of 1/100th of a second for the first 29 minutes, 59 seconds, and 99 hundredths.

  1. Press the MODE button to navigate to the stopwatch display mode.
  2. Press the START/STOP button to begin timing.
  3. To record a split time, press the SPLIT/RESET button while the stopwatch is running. The split time will be displayed temporarily. Press SPLIT/RESET again to return to the running time.
  4. Press the START/STOP button to pause the timer.
  5. Press START/STOP again to resume timing.
  6. To reset the stopwatch to zero, press the START/STOP button to stop the timer, then press the SPLIT/RESET button.

3.4 Alarm Function

The stopwatch includes an alarm function with a bell mark light and a buzzer that sounds for approximately 1 minute.

  1. Press the MODE button to navigate to the alarm setting mode.
  2. To set the alarm time:
    • In alarm mode, press and hold the MODE button until the alarm time flashes.
    • Use the SPLIT/RESET button to adjust the flashing value (hours, then minutes).
    • Press the START/STOP button to move between hour and minute settings.
    • Press the MODE button to exit setting mode.
  3. To activate/deactivate the alarm, press the START/STOP button in alarm mode. An alarm icon will appear/disappear on the display.

The hourly chime provides an audible alert at the top of every hour (00 minutes).

  1. In time display mode, press the MODE button to cycle through modes until you reach the hourly chime setting (often indicated by a small icon).
  2. Press the START/STOP button to toggle the hourly chime ON or OFF. An icon will indicate its status.

To illuminate the display in dark environments, press the LIGHT button. The backlight will remain active for approximately 5 seconds.

When the display becomes dim or functions become erratic, it is time to replace the battery. Follow the instructions in Section 2.1. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
