3. Setup and Connectivity

The DS3900PD docking station offers a wide range of ports for comprehensive connectivity. Familiarize yourself with the available ports before connecting your devices.

Front Panel Ports:

Connection Steps:

1. Connect the power adapter to the 'Power In' port on the docking station and then to a power outlet.
2. Connect your displays to the HDMI and DVI ports on the docking station. Use the DVI to VGA adapter if necessary.
3. Connect your USB peripherals (keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.) to the available USB 3.0 and USB Type-C ports.
4. For wired network access, connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port.
5. Connect the docking station to your laptop/PC using the provided USB Type-C to Type-C cable (for USB 3.1/Thunderbolt 3) or the USB Type-C to Type-A cable (for USB 3.0 Type-A upstream).
6. Ensure all connections are secure. Your operating system should detect the new hardware and install necessary drivers. If not, refer to the Installation CD or download drivers from the Diamond Multimedia website.

4. Operating Instructions

Triple Display Capability:

The DS3900PD supports up to three external displays, allowing for both extended and mirrored display modes. The HDMI 4K port supports resolutions up to 4K, while the other HDMI and DVI ports support up to 2K.

• Extend Mode: Each display shows independent content, expanding your desktop workspace.
• Mirror Mode: All displays show the same content, duplicating your desktop.

Display settings can be configured through your operating system's display settings (e.g., Windows Display Settings or macOS System Preferences > Displays).

Power Delivery (65W):

The docking station provides up to 65W of power delivery to your connected USB Type-C or Thunderbolt 3 laptop, allowing it to charge while connected to the dock. This eliminates the need for a separate laptop charger, simplifying your workspace.

Universal Compatibility:

The DS3900PD is compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems. It supports USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 laptops. Note that early 2015 MacBooks may not support the 4K HDMI port but will function with dual 2K displays (DVI and HDMI). Mac OS versions 10.13.4 - 10.13.6 are not compatible.

• No Display Output: Ensure all display cables (HDMI, DVI, VGA) are securely connected to both the docking station and the monitors. Verify that the docking station is powered on and connected to your laptop/PC. Check your laptop's display settings to ensure external monitors are detected and configured correctly (Extend or Mirror mode).
• Peripherals Not Working: Confirm that USB devices are properly plugged into the docking station's USB ports. Try connecting the device directly to your laptop to rule out device issues. Ensure the docking station's drivers are installed and up to date.
• No Network Connection: Check the Ethernet cable connection to both the docking station and your router/modem. Verify network settings on your laptop.
• Laptop Not Charging: Ensure your laptop supports USB Type-C Power Delivery and is connected to the docking station's upstream USB-C port with a compatible cable. Verify the docking station's power adapter is correctly connected and receiving power.
• Driver Issues: If devices are not recognized or function incorrectly, install the latest DisplayLink drivers from the Diamond Multimedia support website or use the provided Installation CD.
• Mac Compatibility: Be aware of known compatibility issues with Mac OS versions 10.13.4 - 10.13.6. Ensure your Mac OS is updated to a compatible version if experiencing issues.
