3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully unpack the amplifier and check for any signs of damage. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage. The box should contain:

  • Ibiza AMP600-MKII Amplifier
  • Power cable
  • User Manual (this document)

3.2 Placement and Rack Mounting

The AMP600-MKII is designed for 19-inch rack mounting and occupies 2U of rack space. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit, especially at the front and rear where air intake and exhaust are located. Avoid placing the amplifier in enclosed spaces without proper airflow.

  • Mount the amplifier securely in a standard 19-inch equipment rack using appropriate rack screws.
  • Leave at least 1U of empty space above and below the amplifier if possible, or ensure other equipment does not obstruct airflow.

3.3 Connecting Audio Inputs

Connect your audio source (e.g., mixer, preamplifier) to the amplifier's input jacks on the rear panel.

  • For stereo input, use both RCA (L/R) or 6.35 mm Jack inputs for Channel A and Channel B.
  • Ensure all connections are secure to prevent signal loss or interference.

3.4 Connecting Speaker Outputs

Connect your passive speakers to the amplifier's output terminals. The AMP600-MKII supports both Speakon and Terminal Block connections.

  • Speakon Connections: Use Speakon cables to connect to compatible speakers. Ensure the cables are correctly wired for positive and negative terminals.
  • Terminal Block Connections: For bare wire connections, unscrew the terminal, insert the speaker wire (observing polarity), and tighten the terminal securely.
  • Verify that the impedance of your speakers matches the amplifier's output capabilities (4 or 8 ohms) to prevent damage.

3.5 Power Connection

Once all audio and speaker connections are made, connect the supplied power cable to the amplifier's power inlet and then to a grounded AC power outlet.

  • Ensure the power switch on the front panel is in the OFF position before connecting to power.
  • Use only the provided power cable or a suitable replacement with proper grounding.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

  • Power On: Ensure all volume controls on the amplifier are set to minimum. Turn on your audio source first, then press the power switch on the front panel of the amplifier. The power-on delay feature will prevent sudden thumps.
  • Power Off: Turn down the amplifier's volume controls to minimum. Press the power switch to turn off the amplifier, then turn off your audio source.

4.2 Adjusting Volume

The AMP600-MKII features independent recessed volume controls for Channel A and Channel B on the front panel.

  • Slowly increase the volume controls for Channel A and Channel B to the desired listening level.
  • Monitor the signal LEDs for each channel. If the "CLIP" LED illuminates frequently, reduce the volume to prevent distortion and potential speaker damage.

4.3 Signal Level Indicators

Each channel has a series of LEDs that indicate the audio signal level. These LEDs help you monitor the input signal and prevent clipping.

  • Green LEDs: Indicate the presence and strength of the audio signal.
  • Red "CLIP" LED: Illuminates when the signal is too strong and causing distortion. Reduce the input level from your source or the amplifier's volume control if this LED lights up consistently.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Disconnect the amplifier from the power outlet before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Periodically clean the ventilation grilles to ensure proper airflow and prevent dust buildup.

5.2 Cooling Fan

The amplifier features a built-in cooling fan. Ensure the fan is not obstructed and is operating correctly. A malfunctioning fan can lead to overheating and damage to the unit.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
