Package Contents

Setup

1. Unpack all components from the packaging.
2. Place the circular track on a flat, stable surface. The toy is equipped with non-slip rubber feet for stability.
3. Insert the corrugated cardboard scratching pad into the central opening of the track. Ensure it sits securely.
4. The plastic ball is pre-installed in the track. If desired, the ball can be unscrewed to fill with catnip or a small rattle (catnip/rattle not included). Securely close the ball before placing it back in the track.

Operating Instructions

Place the TRIXIE Race & Scratch Cat Toy in an area accessible to your cat. The toy is designed for independent play:

• Interactive Play: Your cat can bat at the plastic ball within the circular track, encouraging chasing and playful interaction.
• Scratching Surface: The central corrugated cardboard pad provides an appealing surface for your cat to scratch, helping to maintain claw health and protect furniture.
• Catnip Enhancement: If you have filled the ball with catnip, the scent may further entice your cat to engage with the toy.

Maintenance

• Cleaning the Plastic Track: The plastic components can be cleaned by hand washing with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before reassembly.
• Scratching Pad Replacement: The central cardboard scratching pad is designed to be replaceable. When the pad becomes worn or heavily scratched, remove it and replace it with a new TRIXIE replacement scratching pad (Item No. 41415-10 or compatible).
• Ball Maintenance: If the plastic ball was filled with catnip, empty and clean it as needed. Ensure it is dry before refilling.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Cat is not interested in the toy.

Solution: Try placing the toy in a different location. Introduce fresh catnip into the ball or sprinkle it on the scratching pad. Engage with your cat using the toy initially to demonstrate its function.

Issue: Ball is not rolling smoothly.

Solution: Check the track for any debris or obstructions. Ensure the ball is properly closed if it was opened for catnip. The ball is designed to be batted by the cat, not to roll continuously on its own.

Issue: Scratching pad is quickly worn out.

Solution: This is normal wear and tear for a scratching surface. Replace the scratching pad with a new one (TRIXIE Item No. 41415-10 or compatible) to maintain its effectiveness.
