2. Before You Begin

Precautions:

  • This system must be installed in a dry indoor environment away from heat sources.
  • This system is only suitable for municipal tap water and well water within the temperature range of 40°F - 100°F.
  • Do not allow wastewater or corrosive liquids to pass through the filter.
  • The filter must be installed upright. During installation, make sure that the water flow direction marked on the valve body is the same as the direction of water flow within the pipeline.
  • The installation location must provide reliable drainage.

Required Tools:

  • Pipe Cutter
  • Spanner Wrench
  • Large Jaw Plier
  • Water Bucket
  • Plumber's Tape

3. Setup and Installation

The iSpring WSP50ARB filter is designed for easy DIY installation. Ensure you have all necessary parts and tools before starting.

Installation Steps:

  1. Shut off Water Supply: Turn off the main water line to your house and open the nearest faucet to drain water and release pressure from the pipes.
  2. Prepare Installation Location: Find a suitable location for the filter. Measure and cut the water inlet pipe where the filter will be installed. Use a bucket to catch any remaining water.
  3. Attach Connectors: Apply plumber's tape evenly on the machine head threads. Screw the push-fit connectors (1-inch MNPT and 3/4-inch FNPT) to the threads and tighten them with a wrench.
  4. Install Batteries (Optional): If not using the power adapter, remove the battery cover on the auto-flushing module and insert three AA batteries.
  5. Assemble Drain Line: Remove the drain cover. Install the small O-ring to the drain connector. Screw the drain connector to the drain port. Connect the drain line to the drain connector. Tighten the nut to secure the drain line and reinstall the drain cover.
  6. Mount Filter: Mount the bracket on the wall and install the filter to the pipeline. Ensure the direction arrow on the machine head aligns with the water flow within the pipeline.
  7. Connect Drain Line: Connect or insert the drain line to a drain pipe or a drain hole.

5. Maintenance and Filter Replacement

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your filter. The frequency of flushing depends on your water quality.

Flushing the Filter:

  • For manual flushing, switch the drain valve to the vertical position (for WSP-B models) or press the 'Drain' button on the auto-flushing module (for WSP-ARB models).
  • Flush the filter for at least 15-60 seconds, or until the water runs clear.
  • It is recommended to flush the filter at least once every month, or more frequently if your water has high sediment content.

Cleaning the Filter Assembly:

  1. Shut off the main water supply and release pressure from the pipes.
  2. Unscrew the drain cover and pull out the circlip to remove the auto-flushing module or drain switch.
  3. Remove the drain valve cover and the drain line.
  4. Unscrew the filter housing counter-clockwise using the included housing wrench.
  5. Completely remove the filter assembly (seal cover, filter mesh, and scraper) from the housing.
  6. Clean the filter assembly with a brush and/or soak it in vinegar to remove stubborn buildup.
  7. Reinstall the clean filter assembly into the filter housing, ensuring proper alignment. Turn the wrench clockwise to tighten the housing.
  8. Reinstall the drain valve cover, drain switch/auto-flushing module, circlip, drain line, and drain cover.
  9. Turn on the main water supply and check for leaks.

6. Troubleshooting

Common Issues:

  • Filter Clogging Quickly: If the filter clogs faster than the automatic flush can clean it, consider increasing the flush frequency or duration. For very high sediment levels, a larger micron filter (e.g., 100-micron) might be more suitable.
  • Automatic Flush Not Working: Check the battery level or power adapter connection. Ensure the settings on the touch-screen module are correctly configured.
  • Leaks After Installation/Maintenance: Ensure all connections are properly tightened with plumber's tape and a wrench. Check O-rings for proper seating and damage.
