MAYFLASH W016

MAYFLASH Wii to HDMI Converter User Manual

Model: W016

Introduction

The MAYFLASH Wii to HDMI Converter is designed to convert the analog video and audio output from your Nintendo Wii console into a digital HDMI signal. This allows you to connect your Wii to modern HDTVs and monitors that primarily use HDMI inputs, ensuring compatibility and an enhanced viewing experience. This adapter supports all Wii display modes (NTSC 480i, 480p, PAL 576i) and outputs pure digital HDMI video/audio signals.

Note: This converter is not an upscaler. The maximum native resolution of the Wii is 480i or 480p. The adapter converts this analog signal to digital HDMI for better compatibility with modern displays, but it does not magically turn your games into 720p or 1080p.

Operating Instructions

The MAYFLASH Wii to HDMI Converter is designed for plug-and-play operation. No additional drivers or software are required.

  • Once all connections are made as described in the "Setup Instructions" section, simply power on your Wii console.
  • Ensure your display device is set to the correct HDMI input channel where the converter is connected.
  • The Wii's video and audio signals will be automatically converted and displayed on your HDMI screen.

For optimal viewing, ensure your Wii's display settings are configured correctly. Some displays may default to 480i, which might not support certain games. Switching the Wii's display mode to 480p in the Wii System Settings is recommended for better compatibility and picture quality over HDMI.

Maintenance

The MAYFLASH Wii to HDMI Converter requires minimal maintenance. Keep the device clean and free from dust. Do not expose it to extreme temperatures or moisture. Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts.

Troubleshooting

No picture or distorted image:
  • Ensure all cables (Wii AV, HDMI) are securely connected to both the converter and the display.
  • Verify that your TV/monitor is set to the correct HDMI input source.
  • Check your Wii's display settings. Some devices' auto-setting of screen resolution is 480i instead of 480p, which may not support games at 240p/480i over HDMI. Try switching the Wii's display mode to 480p in the Wii System Settings.
  • Test with a different HDMI cable or display if possible.
No audio:
  • Ensure your HDMI cable supports audio transmission.
  • Check the volume levels on your TV/monitor and any external audio devices.
  • If using the 3.5mm audio jack, ensure your external speakers/headphones are properly connected and powered on.
Intermittent signal:
  • Ensure the converter is firmly seated in the Wii's AV Multi Out port.
  • Avoid bending or straining the HDMI cable.
