Always observe basic safety precautions when using electrical tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Keep this manual for future reference.
General Safety Rules
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use hearing protection when operating noisy tools. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Secure long hair.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Maintenance: Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation.
Specific Miter Saw Safety
- Always ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped before cutting.
- Keep hands clear of the cutting path and blade.
- Allow the blade to reach full speed before beginning a cut.
- Never attempt to cut freehand.
- Ensure the blade guard is functioning correctly and is in place before operation.
- Use only sharp, correctly sized blades suitable for the material being cut.
3. Setup and Assembly
Before first use, ensure all components are present and the saw is correctly assembled and adjusted.
Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the saw and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any damage that may have occurred during transit. Report any damage immediately to your supplier.

Blade Installation
- Ensure the saw is unplugged from the power source.
- Lift the blade guard and locate the arbor nut.
- Use the provided wrench to loosen the arbor nut while holding the arbor lock button.
- Carefully remove the old blade (if applicable) and install the new 305mm blade, ensuring the rotation direction matches the arrow on the guard.
- Tighten the arbor nut securely.
- Lower the blade guard and ensure it moves freely.
Initial Adjustments
Verify that the saw's table and fence are square to the blade for accurate cuts. Adjust if necessary using a reliable square and the adjustment screws.

4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your miter saw.
Powering On/Off
Connect the saw to a suitable 230V power outlet. To start the saw, press the power switch. To stop, release the switch.
Adjusting Cutting Angles
The SC-HM140L allows for precise angle adjustments:
- Miter Angles: The turntable can be rotated to set miter angles from -45° to +45°. Use the locking lever to secure the desired angle.
- Bevel Angles (Double Inclination): The saw head can be tilted left and right from -45° to +45° for bevel cuts. Loosen the bevel lock knob, set the angle, and re-tighten.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your miter saw.
Cleaning
- After each use, unplug the saw and clean off sawdust and debris using a brush or vacuum cleaner.
- Pay special attention to the blade guard, motor ventilation slots, and moving parts to prevent buildup.
- Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
Blade Care
- Regularly inspect the saw blade for sharpness and damage. A dull blade can cause kickback and poor cut quality.
- Replace worn or damaged blades immediately.
- Clean resin and pitch buildup from the blade using a suitable blade cleaner.
Storage
Store the miter saw in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children and unauthorized users. Ensure the saw is clean and the blade is protected before storage.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter and their potential solutions.
- Saw does not start:
- Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a live outlet.
- Verify the circuit breaker has not tripped.
- Ensure the power switch is fully engaged.
- Inaccurate cuts:
- Check if the blade is dull or damaged and replace if necessary.
- Verify that the miter and bevel angle settings are correctly locked.
- Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped and not moving during the cut.
- Check if the saw table and fence are square to the blade.
- Excessive vibration or noise:
- Ensure the blade is correctly installed and the arbor nut is tight.
- Check for loose components or damaged parts.
- A dull or damaged blade can also cause vibration.
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, contact qualified service personnel.
