Setup
Your Zeppelin 8442 watch comes with a pre-installed LR44 battery. To begin using your watch, you may need to set the time, date, and GMT hand.
Initial Activation:
Some watches may have a plastic stopper under the crown to preserve battery life during shipping. Gently remove this stopper if present before pushing the crown fully in to start the watch movement.
Operating Instructions
The Zeppelin 8442 watch features a single crown for all adjustments. The crown has three positions:
- Position 0 (Pushed In): Normal operating position. The watch runs.
- Position 1 (Pulled Out One Click): Used for setting the date and GMT hand.
- Position 2 (Pulled Out Two Clicks): Used for setting the local time (hour and minute hands).
Setting the Time:
- Pull the crown out to Position 2. The second hand will stop.
- Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the desired local time. Ensure you pass 12 o'clock twice if setting for PM hours to correctly advance the date.
- Once the time is set, push the crown back in to Position 0. The second hand will resume movement.
Setting the Date:
- Pull the crown out to Position 1.
- Turn the crown clockwise to adjust the date. Do not set the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this may damage the movement. If the current time falls within this period, first adjust the time outside this window, then set the date, and finally reset the time.
- Once the date is set, push the crown back in to Position 0.
Setting the GMT (2nd Time Zone) Hand:
The GMT hand operates on a 24-hour scale. It is typically used to track a second time zone.
- Pull the crown out to Position 1.
- Turn the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the GMT hand. The GMT hand moves independently of the hour and minute hands in this position.
- Align the GMT hand with the desired 24-hour time on the inner bezel.
- Once the GMT hand is set, push the crown back in to Position 0.
Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the appearance of your Zeppelin watch.
Cleaning:
- Wipe the watch case and crystal regularly with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
- For the leather strap, avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals. Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary, then dry thoroughly.
Water Resistance:
- The watch is water-resistant to 5 ATM (50 meters). This means it is suitable for everyday use, splashing, rain, and short periods of swimming.
- Do NOT operate the crown or pushers when the watch is wet or submerged in water.
- Avoid exposing the watch to hot water or steam (e.g., showers, saunas) as this can compromise the seals.
- After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly.
Battery Replacement:
The watch uses one LR44 battery. When the battery is depleted, the watch will stop. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by a qualified watchmaker to ensure proper sealing and prevent damage to the movement.
