The PetSafe Legacy ScoopFree Crystal Pro Self-Cleaning Automatic Cat Litter Box is designed to provide a hands-free and odor-controlled solution for cat owners. This front-entry system utilizes motion-sensing technology to automatically rake solid waste into a covered compartment, eliminating the need for daily scooping. 2. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Pro Litter Box:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure you have the litter box unit, disposable crystal litter tray, power adapter, and front-entry hood.
- Position the Litter Box: Place the litter box on a flat, stable surface in a convenient location for your cat. Ensure it is near a power outlet.
- Insert Litter Tray: Slide the disposable crystal litter tray into the designated compartment at the front of the litter box unit. Ensure it is seated correctly.
- Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the litter box unit and then into a wall outlet. The unit will perform an initial cycle.
- Attach Hood (Optional): If desired, attach the front-entry hood by aligning the tabs on the hood with the slots on the main unit and pressing down until it clicks securely into place.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Automatic Cleaning Cycle
The litter box is equipped with motion sensors. After your cat exits the litter box, a 20-minute delay begins. This delay ensures your cat has completely left the area before the rake activates. Once the delay concludes, the automatic rake will sweep solid waste into the covered waste trap at the front of the unit, leaving fresh, clean litter for the next use.

3.2 Health Counter
The integrated health counter tracks the number of times your cat uses the litter box. This feature can help you monitor your cat's habits and detect any changes that might indicate health issues. The counter is visible on the control panel.
3.3 Manual Rake Operation
To manually initiate a cleaning cycle, press the 'Manual Rake' button located on the control panel. This can be useful for spot cleaning or if you need to clear the box immediately.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Litter Tray Replacement
The disposable crystal litter tray should be replaced approximately every 20-30 days for one cat, or more frequently for multiple cats. To replace:
- Unplug the unit.
- Remove the front-entry hood (if attached).
- Slide out the used litter tray.
- Use the included lid to cover the used tray for hygienic disposal.
- Insert a new PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Litter Tray.
- Reattach the hood and plug in the unit.

4.2 Cleaning the Unit
Periodically wipe down the exterior of the litter box with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the unit. Ensure all parts are thoroughly dry before reassembly and use.
5. Troubleshooting
- Rake Not Moving: Ensure the unit is properly plugged in and the litter tray is correctly seated. Check for any obstructions in the litter bed or along the rake's path. If a cat is detected by the motion sensors, the rake will pause.
- Odor Issues: Ensure the crystal litter tray is replaced regularly as recommended. Stirring the litter daily can help distribute moisture and prolong its effectiveness. Consider adding baking soda to the litter for enhanced odor control.
- Litter Tracking: While crystal litter is low-tracking, some tracking may occur. Place a litter mat in front of the box to minimize spread.
- Cat Hesitation: Some cats may need time to adjust to a new litter box. Introduce the new box gradually, perhaps by placing some of their old litter in it initially.
