Setup

1. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash all parts of the food jar with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
2. Preheating for Hot Foods: For best results with hot foods, preheat the interior of the food jar by filling it with hot water for 5-10 minutes. Empty the hot water before adding your food.
3. Precooling for Cold Foods: For best results with cold foods, precool the interior of the food jar by filling it with cold water or ice for 5-10 minutes. Empty the cold water/ice before adding your food.

Operating Instructions

Filling the Food Jar

1. Prepare your food to the desired temperature.
2. If preheating/precooling, ensure the jar is empty.
3. Carefully spoon your food into the stainless steel jar. Do not overfill.
4. Ensure the rim of the jar is clean and free of food particles to ensure a proper seal.

Sealing the Food Jar

1. Place the two-stage pressure relief stopper onto the jar opening and twist clockwise until securely tightened.
2. Place the outer lid (which also functions as a serving bowl) over the stopper and twist clockwise until it is firmly closed.

Using the Integrated Spoon

1. To access the spoon, open the outer lid.
2. The folding spoon is stored securely within the stopper. Gently pull it out.
3. Unfold the spoon for use.
4. After use, fold the spoon and place it back into its designated slot in the stopper.

Using the Serving Bowl

1. The soft-touch removable base can be detached and used as an extra serving bowl.
2. Simply twist the base counter-clockwise to remove it.

Maintenance & Cleaning

• Dishwasher Safe: The THERMOS ALTA Series food jar is dishwasher safe, with the top rack recommended for optimal care.
• Hand Washing: For thorough cleaning, especially for the stopper and spoon, hand wash with warm, soapy water. Use a soft brush for hard-to-reach areas.
• Drying: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and storing to prevent odors or mildew.
• Do Not Microwave: The stainless steel body is not microwave safe. Only the clear plastic inner container (if applicable to your model) is microwavable.

Troubleshooting

• Lid Hard to Open: If the lid is difficult to open, ensure the two-stage pressure relief stopper is properly engaged. Turn the stopper counter-clockwise to release any pressure before attempting to remove the outer lid.
• Food Not Staying Hot/Cold: Ensure the lid and stopper are securely tightened. Verify that the preheating/precooling steps were followed before filling the jar. Extreme external temperatures can also affect retention.
• Leakage: Check that all seals (on the stopper and lid) are clean and properly seated. Ensure the lid is tightened completely.
