1. Introduction

The Casio Casiotone LK-S250 is a compact and portable 61-key electronic keyboard designed for musicians of all skill levels. 2. Setup

Follow these steps to prepare your Casio Casiotone LK-S250 for use.

2.1 Power Supply

The keyboard can be powered using the included AC adapter or six AA batteries.

  1. Using the AC Adapter: Connect the included AC adapter to the DC 9.5V jack on the rear of the keyboard and plug it into a standard wall outlet.
  2. Using Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard. Insert six AA-size alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment securely.

2.2 Attaching the Music Rest

Slide the included music rest into the slot located on the top panel of the keyboard. Ensure it is firmly seated.

2.3 Initial Power On

Press the [POWER] button located on the top panel to turn on the keyboard. The LCD display will illuminate.

3. Operation

This section details the various functions and modes of your LK-S250 keyboard.

3.1 Basic Controls

  • Volume Knob: Adjusts the overall output volume.
  • LCD Display: Shows current tone, rhythm, song number, and other settings.

3.2 Tones and Rhythms

The LK-S250 offers 400 different tones (instrument sounds) and 77 accompaniment rhythms.

  • Selecting Tones: Use the [TONE] button and the numeric keypad or [+/-] buttons to select a desired tone.
  • Selecting Rhythms: Use the [RHYTHM] button and the numeric keypad or [+/-] buttons to select an accompaniment rhythm. Press [START/STOP] to begin/end the rhythm.
  • Reverb: Apply one of 10 reverb types to add depth to your sound. Access this setting via the [FUNCTION] menu.

3.3 Lesson System and Key Lighting

The LK-S250 features a built-in lesson system with 60 songs and a key lighting function to guide your practice.

  • Activating Lessons: Press the [LESSON] button. Use the numeric keypad or [+/-] buttons to select a song.
  • Key Lighting: The keys will light up to indicate which notes to play. Follow the lights to learn the melody.
  • 4-Stage Lesson: Progress through different stages, from listening to playing along, with voice guidance.

3.4 Dance Music Mode

This mode allows you to create and remix EDM tracks by triggering loops and effects with the keys.

  • Activating Dance Music Mode: Press the [DANCE MUSIC] button.
  • Creating Tracks: Select a style and use the keys to trigger drum loops, basslines, synth parts, effects, and transitions.

3.5 Connectivity

The LK-S250 offers various ports for connecting to other devices.

  • Headphones: Plug 3.5mm headphones into the [PHONES/OUTPUT] jack for private practice.
  • Audio Input: Connect an external audio player (e.g., smartphone, tablet) to the [AUDIO IN] 1/8" stereo mini jack to play along with your favorite music.
  • Microphone Input: Connect a microphone to the [MIC IN] 1/4" jack to sing along.
  • USB-MIDI: Use the class-compliant USB port to connect the keyboard to a Mac, PC, iOS, or Android device. This enables MIDI communication without requiring special drivers.
  • Chordana Play App: Enhance your learning experience by connecting to the free Chordana Play app (iOS/Android) to learn songs from downloaded MIDI files.

3.6 My Setup Button

The [MY SETUP] button allows you to quickly save and recall your favorite tones, rhythms, and other settings for instant access.

4. Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your keyboard.

4.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the keyboard's surface with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water and a mild, neutral detergent, then wipe dry immediately.
  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical wipes, as these can damage the finish.

4.2 Storage

  • Store the keyboard in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

4.3 Battery Replacement

When the battery indicator on the LCD display is low, replace all six AA batteries with new ones to ensure consistent performance.

  • No Sound:

    • Verify that your computer or mobile device recognizes the keyboard as a MIDI device.
    • Restart both the keyboard and the connected device.
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the volume level.
    • If using external speakers, check their connections and volume levels.
