Introduction

Welcome to the Monopoly: Marvel 80th Anniversary Collector Edition! This special edition of the classic Monopoly game celebrates 80 years of Marvel comics, featuring iconic artwork, characters, and locations from the Marvel Universe. Players will buy, sell, and trade properties inspired by Marvel's epic catalog, aiming to bankrupt opponents and become the ultimate victor. This game is designed for 2 to 6 players, ages 8 and up.

Setup

Follow these steps to set up your game:

1. Choose a Banker: One player is selected to be the Banker. The Banker is responsible for all money, Title Deeds, Issues, and Omnibuses not yet owned by players. The Banker may also play, but must keep their personal money separate from the Bank's.
2. Distribute Money: The Banker gives each player the following starting money:
   • 2 x $500
   • 4 x $100
   • 1 x $50
   • 1 x $20
   • 2 x $10
   • 1 x $5
   • 5 x $1
3. Shuffle Cards: Shuffle the S.H.I.E.L.D. cards and place them face-down on the corresponding space on the board. Do the same for the Villains cards.
4. Choose Your Token: Each player selects one of the 9 exclusive Marvel-themed tokens and places it on the 'GO' space.
5. Place Issues and Omnibuses: Place the Issues and Omnibuses near the board, ready for purchase.

Operating Instructions (Gameplay)

The goal of Monopoly is to be the last player remaining with money and properties when all other players have gone bankrupt.

Basic Gameplay

1. Starting the Game: The player who rolls the highest number on two dice goes first. Play proceeds clockwise.
2. Taking a Turn: On your turn, roll both dice and move your token clockwise around the board the number of spaces indicated.
3. Landing on a Space: The action you take depends on the space you land on:
   • Unowned Property: You may buy it from the Bank for the price printed on the space. If you choose not to buy it, the Banker immediately offers it for auction to the highest bidder.
   • Owned Property: If another player owns it, you must pay them rent as shown on their Title Deed card.
   • S.H.I.E.L.D. or Villains: Draw the top card from the respective pile and follow its instructions.
   • Go to Jail: Move your token directly to the 'In Jail' space. You do not collect $200 for passing GO.
   • Free Parking: No action required.
   • Income Tax / Luxury Tax: Pay the amount indicated to the Bank.
   • GO: If you pass or land on GO, collect $200 from the Bank.
4. Doubles: If you roll doubles, take your turn as usual, then roll the dice again for another turn. If you roll doubles three times in a row, you must go to Jail.
5. Building: Once you own all properties in a color group, you can build Issues (houses) and then Omnibuses (hotels) on them during your turn or between turns. Building increases the rent significantly.
6. Mortgaging: If you need money, you can mortgage properties to the Bank. Mortgaged properties do not collect rent.
7. Bankruptcy: If you owe more money than you can pay, even by selling Issues/Omnibuses and mortgaging properties, you are bankrupt and out of the game.
8. Winning the Game: The last player remaining in the game is the winner!
