1. Product Overview

The Roland MC-707 GROOVEBOX is a comprehensive music production workstation designed for creating and performing music without the need for a computer. It integrates recording, sequencing, synthesizers, and effects into a single unit, offering a wide array of sounds, loops, and phrases.

2. Setup Guide

2.1 Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the packing contents are present and undamaged. The package should include the MC-707 unit, an AC adapter, and an SD card.

2.2 Power Connection

Connect the supplied AC adapter to the DC IN port on the rear panel of the MC-707. Plug the AC adapter into a standard power outlet. Press the POWER switch to turn the unit ON.

2.3 Audio Connections

Connect your headphones to the PHONES jack (1/4" stereo phone type) for private monitoring. For connecting to external speakers or an audio interface, use the MIX OUT (L/MONO, R) 1/4" phone jacks. Additional 1/4" phone jacks (x5) are available for various audio routing needs.

2.4 MIDI and USB Connections

For MIDI control with external devices, connect MIDI cables to the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT ports. The USB port allows connection to a computer for MIDI and audio transfer, expanding your production possibilities.

2.5 SD Card Installation

Insert the provided SD card into the SD card slot. This card is essential for saving Project Data and Audio Data.

  2. Select Project: Use the VALUE knob and ENTER button to select or create a new project.
  3. Create Tracks: The MC-707 supports Tone, Drum Kit, and Looper (Audio Loop) track types. Use the track selection buttons to choose a track type.
  4. Sequencing: Utilize the 128-step Step Sequencer to program patterns. The unit features 8 tracks and 128 clips (16 clips per track) for complex arrangements.
  5. Real-time Control: Adjust sounds and effects using the faders and knobs for dynamic performance.

3.2 Sound Design and Effects

The MC-707 offers extensive sound shaping capabilities:

  • Track Effects: Apply up to 90 types of Multi-Effects, along with dedicated Track EQ, Chorus/Delay (9 types), and Reverb (7 types) to individual tracks.
