6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your WD ReadyView camera.

6.1 Camera Not Detected by NVR

  • Check Cable Connection: Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the camera and the NVR/PoE switch. Verify the cable is not damaged.
  • Power Cycle NVR: If a camera is not detected, try performing a hard reset (power cycle) of the NVR with all cameras connected. This can help the NVR re-detect connected devices.
  • Initial Internet Connection: Confirm that the NVR was initially connected to the internet via Ethernet during its first setup. This is often required for proper camera registration.

6.2 App Functionality Issues

  • App Updates: Ensure your WD ReadyView mobile app is updated to the latest version.
  • Phone Settings: Some app notifications or background processes might require specific permissions or settings adjustments on your smartphone. Consult your phone's settings for app management.
  • Network Stability: A stable internet connection for both your NVR and mobile device is essential for remote viewing and app performance.

6.3 Recording and Playback

  • Continuous Recording: The system is designed to record continuously. Motion detection events are typically marked on the timeline in purple for easy navigation, rather than only recording during motion.
  • Storage Capacity: Ensure your NVR has sufficient storage space.
