5. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of your EPEVER VS3048AU charge controller.
5.1 Mounting Location
- Choose a dry, well-ventilated indoor location.
- Avoid direct sunlight, high temperatures, and areas prone to water exposure.
- Mount the controller vertically on a wall or stable surface to allow for proper heat dissipation.
- Ensure at least 150mm (6 inches) of clearance above and below the controller for airflow.
5.2 Wiring Sequence
WARNING: Incorrect wiring sequence can damage the controller and other components. Always connect in the following order:
- Connect the Battery: Connect the battery to the battery terminals (+ and -) on the controller. The controller will automatically detect the system voltage (12V/24V/36V/48V). Ensure the battery is charged enough for the controller to recognize the voltage.
- Connect the Solar Panel: Connect the solar panel array to the solar panel terminals (+ and -) on the controller. Ensure the solar panel's open-circuit voltage (Voc) does not exceed the controller's maximum input voltage.
- Connect the DC Load: Connect the DC loads to the load terminals (+ and -) on the controller. Do not exceed the controller's maximum load current rating.
- Connect the Temperature Sensor: Plug the included temperature sensor cable into the "Temp. Sensor" port. Place the other end near the battery for accurate temperature compensation during charging.
Always disconnect in the reverse order: Load, Solar Panel, Battery.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 LCD Display Overview
The LCD display provides real-time information about the system's status. Press the MENU button to cycle through different display screens.

In setting mode, navigate to the load control mode setting. Use the SET button to cycle through available modes (e.g., 24H, 0H, 1-23H, Dusk to Dawn). Confirm with MENU.
- 24H: Load output is always on.
- 0H: Load output is always off.
- 1-23H: Load output turns on at dusk and stays on for the set number of hours.
- Dusk to Dawn: Load output turns on at dusk and turns off at dawn.
6.3 USB Output
The dual USB ports provide a stable 5V/2.4A output for charging compatible electronic devices. This output is independent of the DC load control and is always active when the controller has power.
