5. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee machine.
5.1 Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the machine and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove the filter basket and glass carafe. Wash them with warm, soapy water. Note: The glass carafe and filter basket are NOT dishwasher safe.
- Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Clean the heating plate with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.
5.2 Descaling
Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up over time, affecting performance and taste. Descale your machine every 2-4 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions, or use a mixture of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution up to the MAX level.
- Place an empty filter and the carafe in position.
- Run a brew cycle. Halfway through the cycle, turn off the machine and let it soak for 15-30 minutes.
- Turn the machine back on to complete the brewing cycle.
- Discard the solution and rinse the carafe and filter basket.
- Run at least two full cycles with fresh, cold water to thoroughly rinse out any descaling solution residue.
