1. Product Overview

This kit provides essential replacement components for maintaining the optimal performance of your lawn mower or tractor engine. It includes an air filter, pre-filter, oil filter, spark plugs, and a fuel filter, designed to meet or exceed OEM specifications for various Briggs & Stratton, John Deere, Husqvarna, and Craftsman models.

2. Compatibility

This kit is specifically designed for a wide range of engines and equipment. Please verify your model number for exact compatibility.

2.1. Briggs & Stratton Engines

• Briggs & Stratton Intek Extended Life Series V-Twin 18-26 HP engines with plastic air cleaning housings.
• Compatible with BS engine series: 40G777, 40H777, 401577, 403677, 404577, 406577, 407577, 445777, 40F777, 4045A7, 405577.

2.2. Compatible Lawn Mowers & Tractors

3. Kit Contents

Each kit contains the following components:

• 1 x Air Filter (replaces 499486, 499486S, 499476S, 698754, 695667, JD MIU11286, GY20575, GY21056, Hus 531307044)
• 1 x Pre-Filter (replaces 273638, 273638S)
• 1 x Oil Filter (replaces 795890, 92134GS, 92134, 695396, 696854, John Deere AM125424)
• 2 x Spark Plugs (replaces 491055, Champion RC12YC, John Deere M78543, Briggs Stratton 491055S, Kohler 25 132 12-S)
• 1 x Fuel Filter (replaces 493629, 5065, 5065D, 5065K, 691035)
• 2 x Hose Clamps

4. Installation and Maintenance

Regular maintenance using these components will help extend the life and efficiency of your engine. Always refer to your equipment's specific service manual for detailed instructions and safety precautions.

4.1. Air Filter Replacement

The air filter prevents dirt and debris from entering the engine, ensuring clean air for combustion. Replace it regularly, especially in dusty conditions.

1. Locate the air filter housing, typically on the side of the engine.
2. Open the housing by releasing clips or unscrewing fasteners.
3. Remove the old air filter and pre-filter. Note their orientation.
4. Clean any debris from inside the air filter housing.
5. Install the new pre-filter onto the new air filter, ensuring proper fit.
6. Insert the new air filter assembly into the housing, matching the orientation of the old filter.
7. Securely close the air filter housing.

4.2. Oil Filter Replacement

The oil filter removes contaminants from the engine oil, protecting internal components. Replace it during every oil change.

1. Ensure the engine is cool. Place a drain pan beneath the oil filter.
2. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the old oil filter.
3. Clean the mounting surface on the engine.
4. Apply a thin film of new engine oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
5. Screw on the new filter by hand until the gasket makes contact with the engine.
6. Tighten the filter an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn by hand or with a wrench, as specified by your engine manual. Do not overtighten.
7. Refill the engine with the recommended type and amount of oil.

4.3. Spark Plug Replacement

Spark plugs ignite the air-fuel mixture in the engine's cylinders. Worn spark plugs can lead to misfires and reduced engine performance.

1. Disconnect the spark plug wire(s) by pulling on the boot, not the wire.
2. Use a spark plug socket to loosen and remove the old spark plug(s).
3. Inspect the old spark plug for signs of wear or fouling.
4. Ensure the gap on the new spark plug is set correctly according to your engine's specifications (refer to your engine manual).
5. Thread the new spark plug(s) into the cylinder head by hand to prevent cross-threading.
6. Tighten with a spark plug socket. Do not overtighten; refer to torque specifications in your engine manual.
7. Reconnect the spark plug wire(s) firmly.

4.4. Fuel Filter Replacement

The fuel filter prevents contaminants from reaching the carburetor or fuel injectors, ensuring a clean fuel supply.

1. Locate the fuel filter in the fuel line, typically between the fuel tank and the carburetor.
2. Use pliers to slide the hose clamps away from the filter connections.
3. Carefully twist and pull the fuel lines off the old filter. Be prepared for a small amount of fuel to spill.
4. Note the direction of the arrow on the old filter (indicating fuel flow) and install the new filter in the same direction.
5. Attach the fuel lines to the new filter and slide the hose clamps back into position to secure the connections.
6. Check for any fuel leaks before starting the engine.
