2. Setup

2.1 Initial Charging

Your Casio MTPS120L watch is equipped with a solar charging system. Before initial use, or if the watch has been stored in darkness, expose it to light for several hours to ensure it is fully charged. The watch will operate for approximately 6 months on a full charge without further light exposure.

2.2 Setting the Time and Date

  1. Pull out the crown: Gently pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
  2. Set the time: Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Ensure the AM/PM setting is correct if using 12-hour format (the date changes at midnight).
  3. Set the date: Push the crown in one click to the first click position. Rotate the crown to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
  4. Push in the crown: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back in to the normal position. The second hand will resume movement.

3. Operation

3.1 Reading the Analog Display

The watch features a standard 3-hand analog display (hour, minute, second). The dial includes both 12-hour and 24-hour (military) markings for easy readability. Luminous hands and markers provide visibility in low-light conditions.

3.2 Day/Date Display

The day and date are displayed in a window on the watch face. The day of the week is typically abbreviated (e.g., MON, TUE, WED) and the date is a numerical value. The day and date automatically advance at midnight.

3.3 Water Resistance

This watch is rated for 100-meter water resistance. This means it is suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. Do not operate the crown or push buttons while the watch is wet or submerged. Avoid exposing the watch to hot water or steam, as this can compromise the water resistance seals.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning Your Watch

Wipe the watch case and band with a soft, dry cloth regularly to remove dirt and moisture. For the fabric band, a mild soap solution and soft brush can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and air drying. Ensure the watch is completely dry before wearing.

4.2 Solar Cell Care

To maintain optimal charging efficiency, keep the watch face clean and free from obstructions. Regularly expose the watch to light. Avoid prolonged storage in dark places, which can lead to the battery depleting and requiring a full recharge cycle.

4.3 Storage

When not in use, store your watch in a location where it can be exposed to light to maintain its charge. Avoid extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for extended periods (which can cause discoloration), and strong magnetic fields.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Watch stops or hands do not move: This typically indicates a low battery charge. Expose the watch to bright light for several hours to recharge the solar cell.
  • Date changes at noon: The AM/PM setting is incorrect. Pull the crown out to the second click and advance the time by 12 hours.
  • Condensation inside the watch: This may indicate a compromised water resistance seal. Avoid further water exposure and consult a qualified watch technician.
  • Hands are misaligned: Refer to the "Setting the Time" section and carefully reset the time and date. If the issue persists, professional service may be required.
