Brand: AutoPot | Model: 707625

Introduction

The AutoPot 4 Pot System is an efficient, self-watering growing system designed for both indoor and outdoor plant cultivation. This system operates without the need for electricity, pumps, or timers, utilizing gravity to deliver water and nutrients to your plants as needed. It features four 3.9-gallon pots connected to a central 12.4-gallon reservoir, ensuring your plants receive consistent hydration and nutrition.

This manual provides essential instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your AutoPot 4 Pot System to ensure optimal performance and plant health.

  • 1 x 3/8" Top Hat Grommet
  • 1 x 3/8" Golf Filter
  • 1 x 3/8" Inline Tap
  • 1 x 3/8" Cross Connector
  • 1 x 3/8" Tee Connector
  • 4 x 3.9 Gallon Pots
  • 4 x 1Pot Trays & Lids
  • 4 x AQUAvalves5
  • 13ft of 3/8" Pipe
  • 4 x Root Control Discs (black & gold)

Setup Instructions

Follow these steps carefully to assemble your AutoPot 4 Pot System. Refer to the "1Pot setup instructions" section in the diagram above for visual guidance.

  1. Install Root Control Disc: Place a root control disc at the bottom of each pot.
  2. Prepare Pots: Fill each 3.9-gallon pot with your chosen growing medium. Water thoroughly and allow plants to drain outside the tray.
  3. Connect AQUAvalve5: Remove the collar from the AQUAvalve5. Push the 3/8" pipe through the collar and then attach it to the AQUAvalve5 nozzle. Rescrew the collar, ensuring it is hand-tightened only to avoid overtightening.
  4. Position Tray: Place the pot tray on a level surface. Position the AQUAvalve5 within the tray. Place the pot into the tray, ensuring the tray is clean. Place the lid over the valve onto the tray.
  5. Cut Pipe: Cut the 3/8" pipe to the appropriate lengths to connect the reservoir to the pots and to connect the pots to each other, using the tee and cross connectors as needed.
  6. Reservoir Connection: Push the 3/8" top hat grommet into the reservoir. Then push the 3/8" pipe through the grommet. Install the golf filter inside the reservoir onto the end of the pipe.
  7. Final Placement: Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free. Allow your plants to establish for 7-10 days before turning the system on.

Operating Instructions

The AutoPot system is designed for automated watering, but initial setup and regular checks are important.

  • Plant Establishment: Allow your plants to establish in their pots for a period of 7 to 10 days before turning on the system. This encourages a stronger and healthier root system.
  • Reservoir Filling: Always utilize your reservoir (FlexiTank or similar) at a minimum of 6" above the highest AQUAvalve5. Fill it with water and nutrients. The reservoir should be allowed to go 1/3 to 1/2 empty before refilling; never allow it to run completely empty.
  • Nutrient Solution: When using AQUAvalve5, always mix mineral or organic fertilizers thoroughly in the reservoir for best performance and pipework integrity. Organic fertilizers will require a water pump in the reservoir running for 15 minutes every 2 hours and cleaning of the reservoir, pump, and filter each time the reservoir empties.
  • Flushing: Flush pipework with plain water every time the reservoir empties to prevent buildup.
  • Clean Trays: Clean all substrate from the bottom and sides of the pots before placing them in each tray. This ensures your system is clean and ready to start.
  • Growing Medium: Always use free-draining substrates, for example: soil/perlite, coco/perlite, soil/clay pebbles, coco/clay pebbles, or rockwool/clay pebbles.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your AutoPot system.

  • Reservoir Cleaning: Regularly clean the reservoir to prevent algae growth and nutrient buildup. For organic fertilizers, more frequent cleaning is required, along with flushing the pipework.
  • AQUAvalve Inspection: Periodically check the AQUAvalve5 for any blockages or debris. Ensure the float mechanism moves freely.
  • Pipework Check: Inspect all tubing for kinks, leaks, or blockages. Ensure all connections are secure.
  • Filter Cleaning: Clean the golf filter inside the reservoir regularly to maintain proper water flow.
  • Tray Cleaning: Keep the pot trays free of debris and substrate to ensure the AQUAvalve5 operates correctly.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your AutoPot system, consider the following common problems and solutions.

  • System Not Watering:
    • Check if the reservoir has water and is positioned at least 6" above the highest AQUAvalve5.
    • Inspect the golf filter and pipework for blockages.
    • Ensure the AQUAvalve5 float is not stuck and can move freely.
    • Verify all taps are open.
  • System Leaking:
    • Check all pipe connections for tightness. Ensure grommets are properly seated.
    • Confirm the AQUAvalve5 collar is hand-tightened correctly. Over-tightening can cause damage.
    • Ensure the AQUAvalve5 is clean and free of debris that might prevent it from sealing properly.
  • Uneven Watering:
    • Ensure all pots and trays are on a level surface.
    • Check for partial blockages in the pipework or AQUAvalve5 that might restrict flow to certain pots.
