Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for safe and effective winch operation.
Pre-Operation Checklist
- Ensure the vehicle is securely anchored and the parking brake is engaged.
- Inspect the winch cable for frays, kinks, or damage.
- Verify all connections are tight and secure.
- Clear the winching area of bystanders and obstacles.
- Wear heavy gloves and eye protection.
Winching Procedure
- Engage Free-Spool Clutch: Rotate the clutch lever to the "Free Spool" position to manually pull out the desired length of cable.
- Attach Hook: Securely attach the hook to a suitable anchor point using a tree saver strap or shackle. Ensure the hook latch is closed.
- Disengage Free-Spool Clutch: Rotate the clutch lever to the "Engaged" position.
- Connect Remote: Plug in the wired remote control.
- Begin Winching: Stand clear of the cable and use the remote to slowly reel in the cable. Maintain tension on the cable and ensure it spools evenly onto the drum.
- Monitor Operation: Continuously observe the winching process, checking for cable integrity, anchor point stability, and vehicle movement.
- Stop and Re-adjust: If necessary, stop winching to re-adjust the anchor point or cable path.
- Complete Recovery: Once the recovery is complete, release tension, disconnect the hook, and carefully rewind the cable.
