4. Setup

4.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert three (3) "AA" batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Alternatively, the scale can be powered by an optional AC adapter (not included). Connect the AC adapter to the power input port on the side or rear of the scale and plug it into a suitable power outlet.

4.2. Placement

Place the scale on a firm, level, and stable surface, free from vibrations, drafts, and rapid temperature changes. Ensure the stainless steel weighing pan is correctly seated on the scale platform.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off

  • To turn the scale ON, press the ON/OFF button. The display will illuminate and show "0.0 g" (or the last used unit) when ready.
  • To turn the scale OFF, press and hold the ON/OFF button until the display turns off.

5.2. Basic Weighing

  1. Ensure the scale is on a stable surface and powered on, displaying "0.0".
  2. Carefully place the item to be weighed onto the center of the stainless steel weighing pan.
  3. Wait for the stability indicator (usually an asterisk or similar symbol) to appear on the display, indicating a stable reading.
  4. Read the weight displayed on the backlit LCD.

5.3. Unit Selection

The CX221 model supports various weighing units including grams (g), Newtons (N), ounces (oz), and pounds/ounces (lb/oz).

  • With the scale powered on, press the UNIT button (often labeled with an arrow or unit symbol) to cycle through the available weighing units.
  • Stop pressing when the desired unit is displayed.

5.4. Tare Function

The Tare function allows you to subtract the weight of a container, so only the net weight of the contents is measured.

  1. Place an empty container on the weighing pan. The scale will display its weight.
  2. Press the TARE/ZERO button (often labeled "→0←" or "T"). The display will reset to "0.0" (or "0.00").
  3. Add the items to be weighed into the container. The display will show only the weight of the items.
  4. To clear the tare, remove the container from the pan. The scale will display the negative weight of the container. Press the TARE/ZERO button again to return to "0.0".

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

To maintain the accuracy and longevity of your scale:

  • Always turn off the scale and disconnect any AC adapter before cleaning.
  • Wipe the scale body and stainless steel pan with a soft, damp cloth. Mild soap can be used if necessary.
