4. Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your Shark LZ601 vacuum cleaner:

5.1 Power and Surface Settings
Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. To start the vacuum, press the Power button located on the handheld pod. Select the appropriate surface setting:
- Hard Floor Setting: For bare floors and delicate area rugs. The brushrolls spin slowly.
- Carpet Setting: For carpets and rugs. The brushrolls spin faster to pick up embedded debris.
To engage the brushrolls, step on the floor nozzle and tilt the handle back.
5.2 DuoClean Technology
The DuoClean floor nozzle features two brushrolls that work in tandem. The soft front brushroll directly engages hard floors to pull in large particles and fine dust, while the bristle brushroll deep-cleans carpets.
5.3 Self-Cleaning Brushroll

5.5 LED Headlights

6. Maintenance

6.1 Emptying the Dust Cup
Empty the dust cup after each use or when debris reaches the MAX FILL line. To empty, press the dust cup release latch and lift the dust cup off the handheld pod. Hold the dust cup over a trash bin and press the bottom release latch to open the bottom flap and empty debris. Close the flap and reattach the dust cup.
6.2 Cleaning Filters
Your vacuum has washable HEPA and foam filters. Rinse filters with cold water only. Allow all filters to air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling them to prevent liquid from being drawn into electric parts.
- Pre-Motor Foam & Felt Filters: Located inside the dust cup. Rinse every 3 months.
- Post-Motor HEPA Filter: Located at the bottom of the handheld pod. Rinse once a year.
