Setup

Unpacking and Placement

  1. Remove all packaging materials and inspect the unit for any damage.
  2. Place the ice maker on a firm, level surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit (at least 10 cm clearance on all sides).
  3. Allow the unit to stand upright for at least 2-4 hours before plugging it in, especially if it was transported horizontally. This allows the refrigerant to settle.

Adding Water

The Hicon Ice Maker offers two methods for water supply:

Figure 3: Water Filling Methods
The left side shows automatic water addition using a 5-gallon bottle. The right side shows manual water addition by pouring water into the reservoir.

  1. Automatic Water Supply (using a water bottle): Place a standard 2, 3, or 5-gallon water bottle onto the top dispenser opening. Ensure the bottle is securely seated.
  2. Manual Water Supply: Open the top lid and pour potable water directly into the water reservoir until it reaches the maximum fill line. Do not overfill.

Note: The melted ice water is recycled back into the reservoir for subsequent ice production cycles.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Plug the appliance into a grounded electrical outlet. Press the ON/OFF button on the control panel to start the unit.
  2. Select Ice Size: Press the ICE CUBE SIZE SELECTION button repeatedly to cycle through the available ice sizes: Small (S), Medium (M), and Large (L). The corresponding indicator light will illuminate.
  3. Ice Production: The unit will begin the ice-making cycle. The first batch of ice may take 6-10 minutes. Subsequent batches will be produced continuously.
  4. Ice Full Indicator: When the ice basket is full, the ICE FULL indicator light will illuminate, and the machine will pause ice production. Remove ice to resume operation.
  5. Water Shortage Indicator: If the water reservoir is low, the WATER SHORTAGE indicator light will illuminate. Add more water using either the automatic or manual method.
  6. Dispense Cold Water: To dispense cold water, place a glass under the cold water tap and press the WATER button. The water nozzle can be extended and retracted.
  7. Power Off: Press the ON/OFF button to turn off the appliance.

Note: The ice produced can remain in the basket for approximately 1-2 hours if the machine is turned off, but it is not a freezer and ice will eventually melt.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  1. Before Cleaning: Always unplug the ice maker from the power outlet.
  2. Interior Cleaning: Remove the ice basket. Clean the interior of the water reservoir and ice-making components with a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  3. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  4. Drainage: Periodically drain any remaining water from the reservoir using the drain plug located at the bottom or back of the unit (refer to specific model for exact location).
  5. First Use Recommendation: For best taste, clean the unit thoroughly before its first use.

Storage

If the ice maker will not be used for an extended period, drain all water, clean the unit, and allow it to dry completely before storing in a cool, dry place.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Ice maker not producing ice. No water in reservoir; Water shortage indicator on. Add water to the reservoir.
Ice full indicator is on, but basket is not full. Ice sensor is blocked or dirty. Clean the ice sensor. Ensure ice is not piled up blocking the sensor.
Ice cubes are too small or soft. Ambient temperature is too high; Water temperature is too high; First cycle of ice production. Ensure unit is in a cool environment. Use cold water. The first few cycles may produce smaller ice.
Water dispenser not working. No water in reservoir; Water nozzle is not extended. Add water. Ensure the water nozzle is pulled out for dispensing.
Unusual noise during operation. Unit not level; Internal components vibrating. Ensure the unit is on a level surface. If noise persists, contact support.
