Installation Guide

Follow these steps carefully for a secure and stable installation. It is recommended to have a level, drill, hammer, Philips screwdriver, and pencil ready.

Step 1: Assemble the Shelf Frame

Attach the guardrails to the short mounting plates and brackets. Ensure the pieces are aligned correctly and screws are flush. While assembling, the unit may feel flimsy, but it will become sturdy once mounted to the wall.

Step 2: Mark Drilling Locations

Hold the assembled shelf against the desired wall location. Use a level to ensure it is perfectly horizontal. Mark the drilling points for the wall mounts with a pencil. For optimal results, use a real level rather than a phone application.

Step 3: Drill Holes and Insert Anchors

Drill holes at the marked locations. A drill bit size of 11/64 inches is often recommended for the provided anchors. Gently tap the drywall anchors into the drilled holes with a hammer until they are flush with the wall surface.

Step 4: Mount the Shelf

Align the shelf's mounting plates with the installed anchors. Secure the shelf to the wall using the provided screws. Ensure all screws are tightened firmly for maximum stability. If installing multiple shelves, consider securing one side first, then leveling and securing the other side for easier alignment.

Care and Maintenance

To maintain the appearance and longevity of your KES Glass Shelves, follow these simple care instructions:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the glass and aluminum surfaces with a dry, soft cloth. For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner can be used on the glass, followed by a dry wipe. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the finish.
  • Rust Prevention: The aluminum frame and stainless steel screws are designed to be rust-resistant. However, regular cleaning in humid environments like bathrooms will help prevent mineral buildup and maintain their pristine condition.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the mounting screws to ensure they remain tight and secure.

Troubleshooting

Shelf Appears Uneven After Installation:

If the shelf appears uneven, it is likely due to inaccurate leveling during installation. Re-check the level of the shelf and adjust the mounting points as necessary. It is crucial to use a reliable level during the marking and drilling stages.

Shelf Feels Flimsy Before Mounting:

The shelf assembly may feel less rigid before it is fully secured to the wall. This is normal. Once all screws are tightened and the unit is properly mounted, it will become stable and secure.

Glass Breakage:

The shelves are made from 8mm extra-thick tempered glass. In the rare event of breakage, tempered glass is designed to shatter into small, granular pieces rather than sharp shards, significantly reducing the risk of injury. This is a safety feature.
