2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or death.

  • Always disconnect power before installing, servicing, or performing any maintenance on the pump.
  • Ensure all electrical connections comply with local codes and regulations. A qualified electrician should perform electrical wiring.
  • The pump is designed for use with 110V/115V, 60 Hz power supply. Verify your power source matches these requirements.
  • The pump must be fully submerged in water during operation to ensure proper cooling and prevent overheating. Operating the pump dry will cause severe damage.
  • An additional external check valve is highly recommended to prevent backflow and maintain system pressure, even if the pump has a built-in check valve.
  • Ensure the power cord length is appropriate for the well depth. Using an undersized or excessively long power cord can lead to voltage drop, overheating, and pump malfunction. Consult NEC guidelines for proper wire gauge selection.
  • Verify the circuit breaker in the control box is correctly rated for the pump's amperage draw. An incorrectly sized breaker can lead to nuisance tripping or inadequate protection.

5. Installation Guide

Proper installation is crucial for the pump's performance and longevity. It is recommended that installation be performed by a qualified professional.

5.1 Pre-Installation Checks

  • Ensure the well casing is at least 4 inches in diameter to accommodate the pump.
  • Verify the static water level and total well depth to ensure the pump can be fully submerged and reach the desired depth without exceeding its maximum lift capacity.
  • Inspect the pump and control box for any visible damage from shipping.
  • Confirm the power supply matches the pump's voltage (110V/115V) and frequency (60 Hz).

5.2 Electrical Connection

  • Connect the pump's 100-foot power cord to the external control box. Follow the wiring diagram provided with the control box.
  • Connect the control box to your main power supply. Ensure a dedicated circuit with appropriate overcurrent protection is used.
  • Important Note: The provided 100ft power cord is designed for standard applications. For deeper wells or specific electrical requirements, it may be necessary to replace the cord with a heavier gauge wire to prevent voltage drop and ensure optimal performance. Consult a qualified electrician for proper wire sizing based on well depth and local electrical codes.
  • Circuit Breaker: Verify the circuit breaker in the control box is correctly sized for the pump's operating current (6.5 Amps). An undersized breaker may cause frequent tripping.

5.3 Plumbing Connection

  • Attach the discharge pipe to the pump's 1-1/2" NPT outlet. Use appropriate thread sealant for a watertight connection.
  • Check Valve: While the pump has a built-in check valve, installing an additional external check valve on the drop pipe above the torque arrestor is strongly recommended. This helps prevent backflow, water hammer, and maintains consistent water pressure.
  • Securely attach a safety rope or cable to the pump for lowering and retrieving it from the well. Do not use the power cord to support the pump's weight.

5.4 Lowering the Pump

  • Carefully lower the pump into the well using the safety rope/cable. Ensure the pump remains vertical during lowering.
  • Lower the pump until it is fully submerged below the static water level, ensuring adequate clearance from the bottom of the well to avoid drawing in sand or sediment.

Figure 7: The pump delivers high lift and large flow. Ensure it is installed below the water level.

6. Operating Instructions

Once the pump is correctly installed and all connections are secure:

  • Ensure the control box is mounted in a dry, accessible location.
  • Turn on the power supply to the control box.
  • Use the ON/OFF switch on the external control box to start the pump.
  • Monitor the system for proper water flow and pressure.
  • To stop the pump, switch the ON/OFF button to the OFF position.

7. Maintenance

The iMeshbean Deep Well Submersible Pump is designed for long-lasting use with minimal maintenance. However, regular checks can help ensure optimal performance:

  • Periodically check the water level in the well to ensure the pump remains fully submerged during operation.
  • Inspect the power cord for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Listen for unusual noises during operation, which could indicate a problem.
  • If an external check valve is installed, inspect it periodically for proper function.
  • In areas with high sediment, consider periodic well cleaning to prevent pump clogging.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your pump, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

ProblemPossible Cause(s)Solution
Pump does not start or trips breaker immediately
  • No power to control box
  • Incorrect wiring
  • Short circuit in pump or wiring
  • Motor failure
  • Check power supply and control box connections.
  • Verify wiring against diagram.
  • Consult an electrician to check for short circuits.
  • Contact support if motor failure is suspected.
Pump runs for a short period then shuts off (trips)
  • Overload due to heavy load or foreign objects
  • Pump operating dry (not fully submerged)
  • Motor overheating (thermal protection activated)
  • Undersized circuit breaker in control box
  • Excessive voltage drop due to long/undersized power cord
  • Bearing failure
  • Check for foreign objects or sand in the pump; remove if found.
  • Ensure pump is fully submerged below water level.
  • Allow pump to cool down. Check well water level.
  • Verify circuit breaker rating matches pump specifications.
  • Consult an electrician to assess power cord gauge and length.
  • Contact support if bearing failure is suspected.
Low or no water flow
  • Low well water level
  • Clogged intake screen or impellers
  • Faulty check valve (internal or external)
  • Leak in discharge piping
  • Pump not fully submerged
  • Check well water level.
  • Retrieve pump and clean intake/impellers.
  • Inspect and replace faulty check valves.
  • Check all plumbing connections for leaks.
  • Ensure pump is adequately submerged.
Internal check valve does not hold pressureDefective internal check valve.Install an additional external check valve on the discharge pipe. This is a common solution and highly recommended.
