Physical Installation

  1. Unpack the Smart Power Strip and ensure all components are present.
  2. Plug the power strip into a standard wall outlet. The USB ports will be powered on automatically once the strip is plugged in.

App Installation and Wi-Fi Networking Settings

The POWRUI Smart Power Strip operates with the Smart Life app (or Tuya app). Follow these steps to connect your device to your Wi-Fi network and enable smart control:

  1. Download the Smart Life app from your smartphone's app store (iOS App Store or Google Play Store).
  2. Register or log in to your Smart Life account.
  3. In the app, tap the "+" icon or "Add Device" to begin the pairing process.
  4. Select "Power Strip" from the list of device types.
  5. Confirm that the Wi-Fi indicator light on the power strip is rapidly blinking. If it is not, press and hold the reset button on the power strip until the indicator rapidly blinks.
  6. Allow Smart Life to access your device's location if prompted.
  7. Enter your Wi-Fi network password. Note: Only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks are supported.
  8. The app will begin connecting to the device. Keep your router, mobile phone, and the power strip as close as possible during this process.
  9. Once successfully added, you can rename the device and individual outlets within the app.

Operating the Smart Power Strip

Manual Control

Each of the 4 AC outlets on the power strip has a dedicated physical button. You can press these buttons to manually turn individual outlets on or off. This feature allows for control even without Wi-Fi connectivity.

App Control

Once connected to the Smart Life app, you can control the power strip and its individual AC outlets from anywhere with an internet connection.

  • Remote On/Off: Toggle the main power strip or individual AC outlets on/off directly from the app.
  • Scheduling: Set schedules for the power strip or specific outlets to automatically turn on or off at designated times (e.g., lights on at dusk, off at sunrise).
  • Countdown Timer: Utilize the countdown feature to automatically turn off an appliance after a set duration.
  • Group Control: Create groups for multiple smart devices to control them simultaneously with a single command.

USB Charging Ports

Voice Control Integration

The Smart Power Strip is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant, allowing for convenient hands-free control of your connected appliances.

  • For Amazon Alexa:
    1. Open the Alexa app.
    2. Navigate to 'Skills & Games' from the menu.
    3. Search for 'Smart Life' and enable the skill.
    4. Link your Smart Life account by entering your credentials.
    5. Discover devices. Alexa will find your power strip and its individual outlets.
    6. You can now use voice commands like "Alexa, turn on the desk light" (if you've named an outlet 'desk light').
  • For Google Home:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap 'Add' (the plus icon) and then 'Set up device'.
    3. Select 'Works with Google' and search for 'Smart Life'.
    4. Link your Smart Life account by entering your credentials.
    5. Assign the power strip to a room for better organization.
    6. You can now use voice commands like "Hey Google, turn off the fan" (if you've named an outlet 'fan').

Troubleshooting

Wi-Fi Connection Issues

  • Indicator not rapidly blinking: If the Wi-Fi indicator light is not rapidly blinking during setup, press and hold the reset button on the power strip until it starts blinking rapidly.
  • Connection failure: Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. 5 GHz networks are not supported. Move the power strip closer to your Wi-Fi router. Check your Wi-Fi password for accuracy.

Overload Protection

The power strip features an integrated 13-Amp circuit breaker. If the power strip becomes overloaded, the circuit breaker will trip to protect your devices. To reset, unplug some devices and then press the power switch to restore power.
