2. Important Safety Instructions
WARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
General Power Tool Safety
- Work Area Safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use appropriate safety equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection when necessary. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool.
Sander Specific Safety
- Dust Collection: Always use the dust collection system provided or connect to a dust extraction facility when sanding. Dust generated from sanding can be harmful to your health.
- Secure Workpiece: Always clamp or otherwise secure the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the workpiece by hand or against your body may lead to loss of control.
- Battery Tool Use and Care: This tool is supplied without a battery and charger. Use only with WORX PowerShare 20V batteries and compatible chargers. Refer to the battery and charger manuals for specific safety instructions.
