5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the sander is switched off.
  2. Align the WORX PowerShare 20V battery with the battery port on the sander.
  3. Slide the battery into the port until it clicks securely into place.
  4. To remove, press the battery release button and slide the battery out.

5.2 Attaching Sanding Pads and Abrasive Paper

  1. Select the appropriate sanding pad for your task (e.g., orbital, detail, finger).
  2. Align the chosen sanding pad with the base of the sander and press firmly until it locks into place. The design allows for easy, tool-free changes.
  3. Select the appropriate abrasive paper (sanding sheet) for your task and grit requirement.
  4. Align the abrasive paper with the Velcro surface of the sanding pad. Ensure the holes on the paper align with the dust extraction holes on the pad.
  5. Press the abrasive paper firmly onto the pad to secure it.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off

To turn the sander on, slide the power switch to the 'ON' position. To turn it off, slide the switch to the 'OFF' position.

6.2 Variable Speed Control

The WORX WX820 features a variable speed control dial, allowing you to adjust the sanding speed to suit different materials and applications. Rotate the dial to increase or decrease the oscillation speed.

6.3 Sanding Techniques

Always ensure the workpiece is securely clamped. Apply light, even pressure and move the sander smoothly across the surface. Avoid pressing too hard, as this can reduce efficiency and damage the surface or the tool.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Dust Bag/Microfilter

Regularly empty and clean the dust bag to maintain optimal dust collection efficiency. The WORX WX820 features a DustStop microfilter system for effective dust management.

  1. Remove the dust bag from the sander.
  2. Empty the collected dust into a waste receptacle.
  3. For thorough cleaning, tap the dust bag to dislodge fine particles or use compressed air if available.
  4. Reattach the dust bag securely to the sander.

7.2 General Cleaning and Storage
