3. Setup and Assembly
The socket set is designed for straightforward use. No complex assembly is required beyond selecting and attaching the appropriate components for your task.
- Selecting a Socket: Identify the correct socket size and type (metric or imperial) required for your fastener. Sockets feature clear laser graduations for easy identification.
- Attaching to Ratchet Wrench: To attach a socket to the 3/8-inch drive quick-release ratchet wrench, align the square drive of the socket with the drive head of the ratchet. Push the socket firmly onto the drive head until it clicks into place. To release, press the silver quick-release button on the ratchet head and pull the socket off.
- Attaching to Spinner Handle: For the 1/4-inch drive spinner handle, simply push the desired 1/4-inch drive socket onto the square drive end of the handle until it is securely seated.
- Using the Extension Bar: If additional reach is needed, attach the 3/8-inch x 3-inch extension bar to the ratchet wrench first, then attach the desired 3/8-inch drive socket to the end of the extension bar.
- Using the Adapter: The 1/4-inch (M) x 3/8-inch (F) adapter allows you to use 1/4-inch drive sockets with the 3/8-inch drive ratchet wrench or extension bar. Attach the female end of the adapter to the 3/8-inch drive tool, then attach a 1/4-inch drive socket to the male end of the adapter.

4. Operating Instructions
Once the appropriate socket is attached to the ratchet wrench or spinner handle, you can proceed with your task.
- Using the Ratchet Wrench:
- Place the socket onto the fastener (nut or bolt head).
- Use the directional switch on the ratchet head to select the desired rotation (clockwise for tightening, counter-clockwise for loosening).
- Turn the ratchet handle to apply torque. The internal mechanism allows the handle to swing back without turning the fastener, enabling continuous operation in confined spaces.
- Using the Spinner Handle:
- Place the socket onto the fastener.
- Turn the spinner handle manually to tighten or loosen the fastener. This tool is ideal for tasks requiring fine control or when less torque is needed.
- Using the Spin Disk: The spin disk can be attached to a 3/8-inch drive extension bar or directly to the ratchet. It allows for quick, manual rotation of the socket for initial threading or rapid removal of loosely fitted fasteners. Pull the disk to finish quick micro-adjustment by hand.

5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your WORKPRO socket set.
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down all tools with a clean, dry cloth to remove dirt, grease, and debris. For stubborn grime, a mild degreaser can be used, followed by thorough drying.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of light machine oil to the moving parts of the ratchet wrench mechanism to ensure smooth operation. Avoid over-lubrication.
- Storage: Always store the tools in their original plastic storage box. This protects them from dust, moisture, and physical damage, and keeps them organized. Store the case in a dry environment to prevent rust and corrosion.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect tools for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Discontinue use of any damaged tool and replace it if necessary.
6. Troubleshooting
Most issues with socket sets are related to improper use or selection. Consider the following if you encounter difficulties:
- Socket Slipping: Ensure the correct size socket is selected for the fastener. A loose fit can cause slipping and damage to both the fastener and the socket.
- Ratchet Not Engaging: Check the directional switch on the ratchet head to ensure it is fully engaged in either the tightening or loosening position.
- Difficulty Attaching/Detaching Sockets: Ensure the quick-release button on the ratchet is fully depressed when attaching or detaching sockets. For spinner handles, ensure the socket is aligned correctly and pushed firmly.
- Excessive Force Required: If a fastener is extremely tight, avoid applying excessive force that could damage the tool or fastener. Consider using a penetrating oil or a breaker bar (not included) if appropriate for the task.
