Setup

1. Mounting Location

Choose a suitable location that provides optimal sound dispersion and secure mounting. The Atrium 8 SDI is all-weather certified, making it ideal for patios, poolsides, sunrooms, and other outdoor areas. Consider the listening area and potential obstructions when selecting a spot.

2. Mounting the Speaker

The innovative Speed-Lock Mounting System is designed for easy, anti-slip one-handed installation. The speaker can be mounted either vertically or horizontally to best suit your space and desired sound direction.

  1. Securely attach the swiveling C-bracket to your chosen surface (wall, ceiling, etc.) using appropriate hardware (not included).
  2. Adjust the angle of the bracket to direct sound towards your primary listening area.
  3. Align the speaker with the bracket and fasten it with a click. The system ensures a secure fit.

3. Wiring Connections

The Atrium 8 SDI features a unique patented single/dual input switch, allowing flexible configuration.

  • Single Speaker Mode: If using only one Atrium 8 SDI speaker, set the input switch to 'Single'. Connect both the left and right channel outputs from your amplifier to the speaker's binding posts. Ensure correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative).
  • L/R Pair Mode: If using two Atrium 8 SDI speakers as a stereo pair, set the input switch on each speaker to 'Dual'. Connect the left channel output from your amplifier to one speaker and the right channel output to the other. Ensure correct polarity for both speakers.

Operating

1. Powering On/Off

The Atrium 8 SDI is a passive speaker and does not have its own power switch. It receives power and audio signals directly from your connected amplifier. Ensure your amplifier is correctly connected and powered on to operate the speaker.

2. Sound Optimization

The speaker incorporates Power Port Technology to enhance bass performance and a broad coverage baffle design for immersive sound.

  • Power Port Bass Venting: This patented design directs airflow downwards, adding 3dB of deep, extended bass output. Ensure the port is clear of obstructions for optimal performance.
  • Broad Sound Coverage: The speaker's design is optimized to fill medium-to-large outdoor spaces with full-range sound. Experiment with the speaker's angle using the mounting bracket to achieve the best sound dispersion for your specific listening area.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

To clean the speaker enclosure, use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as these can damage the finish or components.

2. Weather Resistance

The Atrium 8 SDI is all-weather certified, meaning it is designed for rugged durability and high environmental endurance. It can withstand extreme temperatures and heavy rain year after year. However, it is not designed for submersion in water. Periodically inspect the speaker for any debris accumulation, especially around the Power Port, and clear it to maintain optimal performance.

    • Confirm the single/dual input switch on the speaker is set appropriately for your setup (Single for one speaker, Dual for a stereo pair).
  • Distorted Sound:
    • Reduce the amplifier volume.
    • Check for loose wiring connections.
    • Ensure the speaker is not overdriven by excessive power from the amplifier.
  • Poor Bass Response:
