5. Setup

5.1 Initial Charge

Before first use, fully charge your Nitecore TIP 2. The flashlight comes with a built-in Li-ion battery that requires charging via the Micro-USB port.

1. Locate the magnetic tailcap. Gently pull the tailcap to reveal the Micro-USB charging port.
2. Connect the Micro-USB end of the charging cable to the flashlight's port.
3. Connect the USB-A end of the cable to any standard USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, computer, power bank).
4. The charging indicator light will illuminate during charging and turn off when charging is complete.
5. Once charging is complete, securely reattach the magnetic tailcap to ensure waterproof integrity.

6. Operating Instructions

The Nitecore TIP 2 features two switches: a Power Switch (large button) and a Mode Switch (small button).

6.1 Power On/Off

• To Turn On: Press and hold the Power Switch for 1 second.
• To Turn Off: Press and hold the Power Switch for 1 second.

6.2 Brightness Levels

When the flashlight is on, short press the Mode Switch to cycle through brightness levels: Low → Mid → High.

6.3 Turbo Mode (720 Lumens)

With the flashlight off or on, press and hold the Mode Switch to instantly activate Turbo mode. Release the Mode Switch to return to the previous state.

6.4 Mode Selection (Demo Mode / Daily Mode)

The TIP 2 has two operating modes: Demo Mode and Daily Mode. By default, the flashlight is set to Demo Mode, which automatically turns off after 30 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery. Daily Mode keeps the light on until manually turned off.

• To Switch Modes: With the flashlight off, press and hold both the Power Switch and the Mode Switch simultaneously for 3 seconds. The flashlight will flash once to indicate Demo Mode or twice to indicate Daily Mode.
• Demo Mode: Light turns off automatically after 30 seconds. Ideal for short bursts of light or preventing accidental activation.
• Daily Mode: Light stays on until manually turned off. Recommended for continuous illumination.

6.5 Power Indicator

When the flashlight is off, short press the Power Switch. The blue indicator light will flash to show the remaining battery power:

• 3 flashes: Above 50%
• 2 flashes: Below 50%
• 1 flash: Below 10%

7. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe the flashlight with a clean, soft cloth. Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
• Charging: Recharge the battery regularly, especially if the flashlight has not been used for an extended period, to maintain battery health.
• Storage: Store the flashlight in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Water Resistance: Always ensure the magnetic tailcap is securely attached to maintain the IP67 waterproof rating.

8. Troubleshooting

• Flashlight not turning on:
  • Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a USB power source to charge.
  • Verify that the Power Switch is pressed and held for 1 second to activate.
• Light turns off automatically after 30 seconds:
  • The flashlight is likely in Demo Mode. Refer to Section 6.4 to switch to Daily Mode.
• Charging issues:
  • Ensure the Micro-USB cable is properly connected to both the flashlight and the power source.
  • Try a different USB cable or power adapter.
  • Check the charging port for any debris or damage.
• Reduced brightness or runtime:
  • The battery may be low. Recharge the flashlight fully.
  • Extreme temperatures can affect battery performance.
