Figure 6: Side label of the MC901, detailing model information, input type (K default), temperature range, output type (Relay/SSR), power supply, and accuracy class. This label also contains critical wiring information.

  • Power Supply: Connect 85-265V AC, 50/60Hz to the designated power terminals.
  • Sensor Input: Connect your K-type thermocouple or PT100 sensor to the input terminals. Observe polarity for thermocouples.
  • Output: Connect your heating/cooling element or SSR to the appropriate output terminals (Relay or SSR).
  • Alarm Outputs: If utilizing, connect alarm devices to ALM1 and ALM2 terminals.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On

Once wired correctly, apply power to the controller. The PV (Process Value) display will show the current temperature, and the SV (Set Value) display will show the setpoint.

5.2 Setting the Temperature (SV)

  1. Press the SET button once. The SV display will begin to flash.
  2. Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to adjust the desired temperature setpoint.
  3. Press SET again to confirm the new setpoint and exit the setting mode.

5.3 Parameter Settings

To access advanced parameters (e.g., input type, control mode, alarm settings), press and hold the SET button for several seconds until the parameter code appears on the PV display. Use the Up and Down buttons to navigate through parameters and the SET button to enter and save changes for each parameter. Consult the full product manual for a complete list of parameters and their functions.

5.4 Auto-Tuning (AT)

The MC901 features an auto-tuning function to optimize PID parameters for your specific system. To initiate auto-tuning:

  1. Set your desired temperature setpoint (SV).
  2. Press and hold the AT button (often combined with R/S) until the AT indicator light illuminates.
  3. The controller will cycle the output to determine optimal PID values. This process may take some time.
  4. Once auto-tuning is complete, the AT indicator will turn off, and the controller will operate with the newly calculated PID parameters.

6. Maintenance

  • Keep the controller clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Regularly check wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or corrosion.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
  • Avoid exposing the controller to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
