1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Könner & Söhnen KS 8100HDE-1/3 ATSR Diesel Generator. This 4-stroke diesel generator features a 14 HP engine, a preheater for easy starting, and an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) for stable power output. It is designed for both private and commercial use, offering 6500/5300 watts of power with 1 x 16 A (400 V) and 1 x 32 A (230 V) outlets. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the generator.
2. Safety Instructions
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.
- Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Never operate the generator indoors or in poorly ventilated areas. Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, and deadly gas.
- Fire Hazard: Diesel fuel is flammable. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke or use open flames near the generator.
- Electrical Shock Hazard: Do not operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are secure and properly grounded. Use only approved extension cords.
- Hot Surfaces: The generator engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for some time after shutdown. Avoid contact to prevent burns.
- Moving Parts: Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from moving parts to prevent injury.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the generator at all times.

Control Panel

VTS Phase Switching System
The Voltage Transfer Switch (VTS) allows you to switch between 400V (three-phase) and 230V (single-phase) operation without power loss.

Anti-Vibration System
The generator is equipped with an anti-vibration system to minimize noise and extend component lifespan.

4. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the generator from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage.
- Placement: Position the generator on a firm, level surface in a well-ventilated outdoor area, away from windows, doors, and vents. Ensure at least 1 meter of clear space around the generator.
- Add Engine Oil: The generator is shipped without engine oil. Fill the crankcase with the recommended diesel engine oil (refer to specifications for type and capacity). Do not overfill.
- Add Diesel Fuel: Fill the fuel tank with clean diesel fuel. Do not use gasoline. Ensure the fuel cap is securely tightened.
- Battery Connection: Connect the battery terminals, ensuring correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative).
- Grounding: Connect the generator to a proper earth ground using a heavy-gauge wire.
5. Operating Instructions
Starting the Generator (E-Start)
- Ensure all connected appliances are turned off or unplugged from the generator.
- Turn the fuel valve to the "ON" position.
- If operating in cold conditions, activate the fuel preheater (if equipped and necessary).
- Insert the key into the starter switch and turn it to the "START" position. Release the key once the engine starts.
- Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before connecting electrical loads.
Using the VTS Phase Switching System
The VTS system allows you to select the desired voltage output.
- To switch between 400V and 230V, ensure the generator is running without load.
- Turn the VTS switch to the desired position (AC 400V or AC 230V).
- Connect your appliances to the appropriate outlets.
Stopping the Generator
- Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
- Allow the engine to run for a few minutes without load to cool down.
- Turn the starter switch to the "OFF" position.
- Turn the fuel valve to the "OFF" position.

Storage
