Filtration Performance

The Waterdrop XWF filter utilizes a 100% Sri Lankan superior coconut shell carbon block to effectively reduce a wide range of contaminants, including heavy metals, chlorine, mercury, copper, cadmium, VOCs, chromium, THM, and other suspended particles. While impurities are reduced, beneficial minerals are retained for healthier water.

2. Installation Guide

Before Installation

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Locate your refrigerator's water filter compartment. This is typically inside the refrigerator compartment or in the grille at the bottom.
  2. Twist the old filter counter-clockwise to unlock it, then pull it straight out. Some water may drip, so have a towel ready.
  3. Insert the new Waterdrop XWF filter into the housing. Align the arrow on the filter with the arrow on the filter housing.
  4. Push the filter firmly into the housing and twist it clockwise until it locks into place. You should feel a click or resistance.
  5. Turn on your refrigerator's water supply.
  6. Flush 2-3 gallons of water through the dispenser to remove any trapped air and carbon fines. This will also ensure optimal filtration performance.
  7. Check for any leaks around the filter housing.

No tools are required for installation. For detailed instructions specific to your refrigerator model, please consult your appliance's user manual.

3. Operation

How Your Filter Works

The Waterdrop XWF filter uses an advanced coconut shell carbon block to filter water. As water passes through the filter, the carbon block traps and reduces impurities, ensuring that the water dispensed from your refrigerator is clean and tastes fresh. This process effectively removes harmful substances while allowing beneficial minerals to pass through.

4. Maintenance

Filter Lifespan

For optimal performance and water quality, it is recommended to replace your Waterdrop XWF filter every 6 months or after filtering 200 gallons of water, whichever comes first. The actual lifespan may vary depending on your local water quality and usage.

Tracking Filter Life

The product includes complimentary month install stickers. Attach one to your filter or a visible location on your refrigerator to easily track when the filter needs to be replaced.

5. Troubleshooting

"Water Filter Expired" or "Error" Message (XWFE Models)

If your GE refrigerator uses an XWFE filter (which includes an RFID chip) and displays an "Expired" or "Error" message when using the Waterdrop XWF filter, it is because the XWF filter does not contain the RFID chip required by XWFE systems. A common workaround involves carefully removing the RFID chip from your old XWFE filter or a GE filter bypass plug and attaching it to the new Waterdrop XWF filter or placing it near the sensor. This will allow the refrigerator to recognize a filter is present and dispense water. However, the "Expired" message may still appear as the system tracks usage based on the chip.

Reduced Water Flow

If you experience a noticeable reduction in water flow from your dispenser, this typically indicates that the filter is nearing the end of its lifespan or is becoming clogged with impurities. It is time to replace the filter.

Leaking

Ensure the filter is correctly seated and twisted securely into the filter housing. If leaks persist, remove and re-install the filter, making sure all seals are intact and the filter is fully engaged. If the issue continues, contact customer support.
