Setup
1. Unpacking
Carefully remove the amplifier and all accessories from the packaging. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.
2. Power Connection
- Ensure the amplifier's power switch is in the OFF position.
- Connect the supplied power adapter to the AC IN jack on the rear panel.
- Plug the power adapter into a suitable AC outlet.
3. Connecting a Guitar
Connect your guitar to the INPUT jack on the front panel using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
4. Connecting External Devices
- AUX IN: Connect an external audio player (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the AUX IN jack using a 3.5mm stereo mini-cable to play along with your favorite tracks.
- Headphones: For silent practice, connect stereo headphones to the HEADPHONE jack. The internal speaker will automatically mute.
Operating the Amplifier
1. Powering On/Off
Press the POWER switch on the front panel to turn the amplifier ON. The display will illuminate. To turn OFF, press the POWER switch again.
2. Selecting Amp Models
The VX15 GT features VOX's advanced VET modeling technology, offering a diverse array of tube amp and boutique amp models, including the legendary AC30. Use the AMP TYPE knob to select from various models like DELUXE CL, BOUTIQUE CL, VOX AC30, BRIT 1959, and more. Each model provides distinct tonal characteristics.
3. Adjusting Gain, Volume, and EQ
- GAIN: Controls the amount of distortion or overdrive.
- VOLUME: Adjusts the overall output level of the selected amp model.
- TREBLE/BASS: These knobs allow you to shape the high and low frequencies of your tone.
4. Using Built-in Effects
The amplifier includes a range of modulation, delay, and reverb effects. Use the dedicated knobs to select and adjust the intensity of these effects:
- MODULATION: Includes effects like Chorus, Flanger, Org Phase, and Twin Trem.
- DELAY/REVERB: Features effects such as Tape Echo, Spring, and Hall.
5. Saving and Recalling Presets
The VX15 GT comes with preset programs that reproduce typical sounds for each amp model. You can also create and save your own custom settings:
- Recalling Presets: Turn the PROGRAM knob to select a desired preset.
- Saving Custom Settings: After adjusting your tone and effects, press and hold the WRITE button to save your settings to a user bank.
6. Power Level Control
The POWER LEVEL knob allows you to adjust the output wattage of the amplifier, making it suitable for various environments from bedroom practice to stage use. Options typically include 0.5W, 1.5W, and 15W.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
2. Storage
Store the amplifier in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, disconnect the power adapter.
