5. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your DONGJIAN HDMI Extender:
- Connect the HDMI Source to the Sender (TX) Unit:
Connect an HDMI cable from your source device (e.g., laptop, PC, game console, Blu-ray player) to the HDMI IN port on the Sender (TX) unit.
- Connect the Display to the Receiver (RX) Unit:
Connect an HDMI cable from your display device (e.g., HDTV, projector, monitor) to the HDMI OUT port on the Receiver (RX) unit.
- Connect Sender and Receiver with Ethernet Cable:
Use a single Cat5e, Cat6, or Cat7 Ethernet cable to connect the CAT5/6 port on the Sender (TX) unit to the CAT5/6 port on the Receiver (RX) unit. For optimal performance and maximum distance, an oxygen-free copper Cat6 cable is recommended.
- Apply Power:
Connect one of the provided DC 5V power adapters to either the Sender (TX) unit or the Receiver (RX) unit. Due to the Power Over Cable (POC) function, only one unit needs to be powered. The other unit will receive power through the Ethernet cable.
- Verify Connection:
Once all connections are made and power is supplied, check the Status LED indicators on both units. A solid light typically indicates a successful connection and signal transmission.

6. Operating Instructions
The DONGJIAN HDMI Extender is designed for plug-and-play operation. Once all connections are securely made and power is supplied, the extender will automatically detect the input signal and transmit it to the connected display.
- Ensure both the source device and the display device are powered on.
- The Status LED on both the Sender (TX) and Receiver (RX) units should illuminate, indicating active power and signal transmission.
- The display connected to the Receiver (RX) unit should show the video and audio from the source device.
7. EDID Copy Function
The EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) copy function ensures optimal compatibility between your source device and display. EDID contains information about the display's capabilities, such as supported resolutions and audio formats. The DONGJIAN HDMI Extender can copy this information from the connected display to the source device.
To utilize the EDID copy function:
- Ensure the display is connected to the Receiver (RX) unit and powered on.
- Locate the EDID button on the Sender (TX) unit.
- Press and hold the EDID button for approximately 3-5 seconds until the Status LED blinks, indicating that the EDID information is being copied from the display.
- Release the button. The Status LED will return to a solid state once the EDID copy is complete. This process helps the source device recognize the display's optimal settings.

8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your HDMI Extender, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Picture or Signal:
- Ensure all HDMI and Ethernet cables are securely connected.
- Verify that the power adapter is connected to either the Sender or Receiver unit and that the Status LED is illuminated.
- Check if the HDMI source device and display are powered on and set to the correct input.
- Try a different HDMI cable or Ethernet cable to rule out cable issues.
- Perform the EDID copy function (refer to Section 7).
- Reduce the length of the Ethernet cable if it exceeds the recommended maximum distance (196ft/60m).
- Picture Flickering or Intermittent Signal:
- Ensure you are using a high-quality Cat6 or Cat7 Ethernet cable, preferably oxygen-free copper.
- Check for any kinks or damage in the Ethernet cable.
- Verify that the resolution of the source device is supported by the extender and the display (up to 1080p).
- Ensure there are no strong electromagnetic interference sources near the cables or units.
- No Audio:
- Check the audio settings on your source device and display.
- Ensure the HDMI cables are fully inserted.
- Confirm that the audio format is supported by the extender (DTS-HD, Dolby-true HD, DTS, Dolby-AC3, DSD).
9. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your DONGJIAN HDMI Extender, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the units. Avoid using liquid or aerosol cleaners, as they may damage the device.
- Storage: Store the extender in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: Handle the units and cables with care. Avoid bending or kinking the cables excessively.
