1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Maxcio Programmable Digital Plug Timer TM02-EU. This device is designed to automate the switching of electrical appliances, helping you save energy and enhance convenience in your home or office. It features a large LCD display, multiple programming options including daily and weekly schedules, Summer Time (DST) adjustment, and an anti-theft random function. Please read this manual carefully before use to ensure proper operation and to maximize the benefits of your new timer.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Indoor Use Only: This timer is designed for indoor use in dry conditions. Do not expose it to rain, moisture, or extreme temperatures.
  • Electrical Rating: Do not exceed the maximum load of 16A / 3680W. Overloading can cause damage to the timer, appliances, and may pose a fire hazard.
  • Grounding: Ensure the timer is plugged into a properly grounded outlet.
  • Cleaning: Disconnect from power before cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Children: Keep out of reach of children.
  • Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

4. Product Overview

Familiarize yourself with the components of your Maxcio Digital Plug Timer:

  • Large LCD Display: Shows current time, day, operating mode, and program settings.

5. Setup and Initial Configuration

5.1 Initial Charging and Reset

If the LCD display is blank when you first receive the timer, it means the internal battery is discharged. Plug the timer into a live wall outlet for approximately 30 minutes to charge the battery. The display should then become active.

After charging, or if you wish to clear all previous settings, perform a full reset:

  1. Locate the small RESET button on the front of the timer (refer to Image 4.1).
  2. Use the provided reset pin or a similar pointed object (e.g., a paperclip) to press and hold the RESET button for a few seconds until the display clears and shows '0:00'.
  3. Release the button. The timer is now reset to factory defaults.

5.2 Setting the Current Time and Day

After resetting, set the current time and day:

  1. Press the CLOCK button once. The display will show the current time and day.
  2. While holding the CLOCK button, press the WEEK button repeatedly until the correct day of the week is displayed (MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA, SU).
  3. While holding the CLOCK button, press the HOUR button repeatedly to set the correct hour.
  4. While holding the CLOCK button, press the MINUTE button repeatedly to set the correct minute.
  5. Release the CLOCK button. The current time and day are now set.

5.3 12/24 Hour Format and Summer Time (DST)

To switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format, press the CLOCK and TIMER ON/AUTO/OFF RANDOM buttons simultaneously.

To activate or deactivate Summer Time (Daylight Saving Time):

  1. Press the CLOCK and RES/RCL buttons simultaneously.
  2. The display will show 'SUMMER' or 'WINTER' (or similar indicator) and the time will adjust by one hour forward or backward.
  3. Repeat the action to toggle the Summer Time function.

6. Programming ON/OFF Times

The timer allows for up to 10 ON/OFF programs per day or across selected days of the week. Each program consists of an ON time and an OFF time.

  1. Press the TIMER ON/AUTO/OFF RANDOM button once. The display will show '1 ON' and '0:00'. This is for setting the first ON time.
  2. Press the WEEK button repeatedly to select the desired day(s) for this program. Options include individual days, weekdays, weekends, or all 7 days.
  3. Press the HOUR button to set the desired hour for the ON time.
  4. Press the MINUTE button to set the desired minute for the ON time.
  5. Press the TIMER ON/AUTO/OFF RANDOM button again. The display will now show '1 OFF' and '0:00'. This is for setting the first OFF time.
  6. Repeat steps 2-4 to set the desired day(s), hour, and minute for the OFF time.
  7. Press the TIMER ON/AUTO/OFF RANDOM button to advance to the next program ('2 ON', '2 OFF', etc.) or to return to the clock display after setting all desired programs.
  8. To exit programming mode at any time, press the CLOCK button.

Note: If you wish to clear a specific program, navigate to that program's ON or OFF setting and press the RES/RCL button. This will clear the setting. Pressing RES/RCL again will recall the setting.

7. Operating Modes

The Maxcio Digital Plug Timer offers several operating modes:

  • AUTO ON: The timer will automatically turn ON the connected appliance at the programmed ON times.
  • AUTO OFF: The timer will automatically turn OFF the connected appliance at the programmed OFF times.
  • ON: The connected appliance is continuously ON, overriding all programs.
  • OFF: The connected appliance is continuously OFF, overriding all programs.
  • RANDOM: Activates the anti-theft random function.

To cycle through these modes, press the TIMER ON/AUTO/OFF RANDOM button repeatedly when the timer is in clock display mode.

7.1 Random Function (Anti-Theft Mode)

The random function is designed to simulate occupancy when you are away, enhancing home security. When activated, the timer will randomly turn ON and OFF the connected appliance within a specific time window.

  • The random function only operates with programs scheduled between 6:30 PM and 6:30 AM the next morning.
  • In RANDOM mode, the timer will randomly turn the appliance on and off up to half an hour earlier or later than the assigned ON/OFF schedule.

To activate the random function, press the TIMER ON/AUTO/OFF RANDOM button until 'RANDOM' appears on the display.

8. Maintenance

The Maxcio Digital Plug Timer requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Ensure the timer is unplugged from the wall outlet before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the unit in water.
  • Storage: If storing the timer for an extended period, ensure it is clean and dry. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

9. Troubleshooting
