The HoldPeak 866B Handheld Anemometer is a professional multi-function device designed for accurate measurement of wind speed, temperature, and wind chill. Utilizing dual temperature sensors and an 8-vane design, it delivers reliable environmental monitoring. This device is suitable for a wide range of applications, from professional HVAC maintenance and duct airflow checks to recreational activities such as drone flying, sailing, shooting, and golf.
Key features include: high precision measurement (0.67-67.1 mph ±2%), multiple unit switching (m/s, km/h, knots, mph, °C/°F), Max/Min/Average readings, auto shut-off, backlight, and a battery indicator. Its robust design includes a built-in stand and a standard tripod mount for stable, hands-free operation, along with a secure wrist strap for portability and safety.
2. Setup: What's in the Box

Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the anemometer.
- Use the provided screwdriver to loosen the screws on the battery cover.
- Insert the 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery cover and tighten the screws.
Attaching the Hand Strap
The anemometer includes a screw hole at the bottom for attaching the hand strap or mounting onto a tripod. Secure the hand strap by screwing its attachment point into the designated hole.

High Precision Design
The 866B features an 8-vane design for more accurate wind speed detection compared to standard 6-vane models. A smooth fan shaft ensures minimal resistance, crucial for precise measurements. Dual temperature sensors enhance temperature and wind chill data accuracy.

Wind Level Display
The anemometer includes a Beaufort wind scale reminder on its display, helping users interpret wind conditions for various outdoor activities.

4. Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
- Press the red Power (⏻) button once to turn the device ON.
- Press the red Power (⏻) button once again to turn the device OFF.
Wind Speed Measurement
- Ensure the anemometer's fan is facing the direction of the airflow you wish to measure. An arrow on the top of the fan housing indicates the correct direction.
- The current wind speed will be displayed on the LCD screen.
- Press the UNIT button to cycle through different wind speed units: m/s, km/h, knots, mph, and ft/min.
Temperature Measurement
- The current temperature is displayed on the lower part of the LCD screen.
- Press the °F/°C button to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius units.
Statistical Modes (MAX/MIN/AVG)
- Press the MAX/MIN button to display the maximum or minimum wind speed recorded during the current measurement session. The display will show
