Operating Instructions
Input Channels (1-4)
- MIC IN / LINE IN: XLR inputs for microphones and 1/4" TRS inputs for line-level signals.
- GAIN: Adjusts the input sensitivity for the connected microphone or line source. Set this to achieve a healthy signal level without clipping (indicated by the PEAK LED).
- COMP (Channels 1 & 2 only): Single-knob compressor for dynamic range control. Turn clockwise to increase compression.
- EQ (High, Mid, Low): 3-band equalizer for shaping the tone of the input signal.
- EQ HIGH (10 kHz): Adjusts treble frequencies.
- EQ MID (1250 Hz): Adjusts mid-range frequencies.
- EQ LOW (100 Hz): Adjusts bass frequencies.
- AUX/FX POST: Sends a portion of the channel signal to the internal effects processor or external AUX output. This is a post-fader send, meaning its level is affected by the channel fader.
- PAN: Adjusts the stereo position of the channel signal in the main mix (left to right).
- LEVEL: The main fader for controlling the output level of the individual channel to the main mix.
- PEAK LED: Illuminates when the input signal is too high, indicating potential clipping. Reduce the GAIN control if this LED lights up frequently.
Stereo Channels (5/6, 7/8, 9/10)
- STEREO INPUT: 1/4" TRS inputs for channels 5/6, 7/8, 9/10. Channels 7/8 and 9/10 also include RCA inputs.
- GAIN: Adjusts the input sensitivity for the stereo line source.
- EQ (High, Low): 2-band equalizer for shaping the tone of the stereo input signal.
- AUX/FX POST: Sends a portion of the channel signal to the internal effects processor or external AUX output.
- BAL (Balance): Adjusts the balance between the left and right signals of the stereo channel.
- LEVEL: The main fader for controlling the output level of the stereo channel to the main mix.
- PEAK LED: Illuminates when the input signal is too high.
Phantom Power (+48V)
The F-10XR provides +48V phantom power for condenser microphones on channels 1-4. Engage the PHANTOM POWER +48V CH1/4 switch to activate. Ensure all condenser microphones are connected before engaging phantom power, and disconnect them after disengaging to prevent damage.
PRO DSP FX (Internal Effects)
The mixer includes a 24-bit internal effects processor with 16 studio-quality presets. To use the effects:
- Select Effect: Rotate the ROTATE TO SEL knob to choose one of the 16 effects. The selected effect number will be displayed.
PRO DSP FX Presets No. Effect No. Effect 01 Small Hall 09 Analog Delay 02 Large Hall 10 Chorus Verb 03 Small Room 11 Stereo Chorus 04 Bright Room 12 Flanger 05 Thin Plate 13 Phaser 06 Plate 14 Gated Reverb 07 Spring Reverb 15 Flanger Verb 08 Multitap Delay 16 Vocal Echo - Apply Effect: Use the AUX/FX POST knobs on individual channels to send signal to the effects processor.
- FX MASTER: Controls the overall level of the effects sent to the main mix.
- FX RETURN: Controls the level of the processed effect signal returning to the main mix.
- FX MUTE: Mutes the effects output.
USB Recording and Playback
The F-10XR features a built-in USB audio interface for stereo recording and playback with a computer or compatible iOS device.
- Recording: Connect the mixer to your computer via USB. The mixer will appear as an audio input device. Select it in your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software to record the stereo main mix.
- Playback: Audio played from your computer can be routed back to the mixer via USB. The IN USB IN 9/10 switch routes the USB playback to stereo channel 9/10, allowing you to mix it with other inputs.
Output Section
- MAIN MIX: The master fader controls the overall output level of the main stereo mix.
- OUTPUT LEVEL Meter: LED meters display the output level of the main mix. Aim for levels that are strong but do not consistently peak into the red.
- CTRL ROOM LEVEL: Adjusts the volume for the Control Room outputs.
- PHONES LEVEL: Adjusts the volume for the Headphones output.
- FOOT SWITCH: Input for an optional footswitch to control certain functions (e.g., FX Mute).
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the mixer's surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes.
- Dust: Regularly remove dust from the ventilation openings using a soft brush or compressed air.
- Knobs and Faders: Avoid applying excessive force to knobs and faders. If they become stiff or noisy, consult a qualified technician.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the mixer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
