2. Safety Information
WARNING: Carbon Monoxide Hazard
- Using a generator indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES. Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide. This is a poison you cannot see or smell.
- NEVER use inside a home or garage, EVEN IF doors and windows are open.
- Only use OUTSIDE and far away from windows, doors, and vents.
- Move generator to an open, outdoor area. Point exhaust away. DON'T RUN GENERATOR IN ENCLOSED AREAS (E.G. NOT IN HOUSE OR GARAGE).
- Move to fresh air and get medical help if sick, dizzy or weak.
Always operate the generator on a level surface to prevent fuel spills and ensure proper lubrication. Keep children and pets away from the generator during operation.
3. Setup
3.1 Adding Engine Oil
The generator is shipped without engine oil. You must add the correct amount of oil before starting. Use 5W-30 engine oil.
- Place the generator on a level surface.
- Remove the side access panel (usually secured by screws).
- Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Using the provided funnel, slowly add approximately 0.6 quarts (0.5 liters) of 5W-30 engine oil. Do not overfill.
- Check the oil level using the dipstick. It should be at the top of the full mark.
- Securely replace the oil fill cap/dipstick and the side access panel.
3.2 Adding Fuel
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. The fuel tank capacity is 1 gallon.
- Ensure the generator is turned off and cool.
- Unscrew the fuel cap.
- Carefully pour gasoline into the fuel tank, avoiding overfilling. Leave some space for expansion.
- Securely replace the fuel cap.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Starting the Generator
- Ensure the generator is on a level surface, outdoors, and away from any enclosed areas.
- Turn the fuel cap vent lever to the 'ON' position.
- Turn the engine control dial to the 'CHOKE' position.
- Pull the recoil starter handle firmly and steadily until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, slowly move the engine control dial to the 'RUN' position.
4.2 Connecting Devices
The generator provides clean and stable power suitable for sensitive electronics.
- Plug your devices into the appropriate AC 120V outlets or USB ports.
- Do not exceed the generator's running wattage (2200W).
4.3 Eco Mode
The Eco Mode feature reduces fuel consumption and noise levels during periods of low power demand.
- To activate Eco Mode, switch the 'ECO' button to 'ON'. The engine speed will automatically adjust to the load.
- For full power output, switch the 'ECO' button to 'OFF'.
4.4 Parallel Operation
For increased power output, two Craftsman 2200i Inverter Generators can be connected in parallel using a separately sold parallel kit.
- Refer to the parallel kit's instruction manual for detailed connection procedures.

4.5 Stopping the Generator
- Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
- Turn the engine control dial to the 'OFF' position.
- Turn the fuel cap vent lever to the 'OFF' position for storage.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your generator.
5.1 Engine Oil Change
Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, and then every 100 hours or annually thereafter.
- Run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil.
- Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug cap.
- Place a suitable container under the oil drain plug.
- Remove the oil drain plug and oil fill cap to drain the oil completely.
- Replace the drain plug and refill with fresh 5W-30 engine oil (approx. 0.6 quarts).
- Reconnect the spark plug cap.
5.2 Spark Plug Inspection/Replacement
Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours or annually. Replace if necessary.
- Remove the spark plug cap and then the spark plug using a spark plug wrench.
- Check for carbon deposits and electrode gap. Clean or replace as needed.
5.3 Air Filter Cleaning
Clean the air filter every 50 hours or more frequently in dusty conditions.
- Remove the air filter cover and foam element.
- Wash the foam element in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow to air dry completely.
- Reinstall the dry foam element and air filter cover.
5.4 Storage
For long-term storage, drain the fuel system and perform an oil change.
- Add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine for a few minutes to circulate it.
- Turn off the fuel valve and let the engine run until it stops from lack of fuel.
- Store the generator in a clean, dry place.
6. Troubleshooting
If your generator experiences issues, consult the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine will not start | No fuel, low oil, spark plug issue, choke position. | Add fuel, check oil level, inspect spark plug, adjust choke. |
| Engine starts but runs rough/surges at idle | Dirty carburetor jet (idle circuit). | Clean the carburetor idle jet. This often requires removing the air filter and potentially the stepper motor to access the tiny jet. Use a fine wire or carburetor cleaner. |
| No power output | Overload, circuit breaker tripped, Eco Mode engaged. | Reduce load, reset circuit breaker, turn off Eco Mode. |
| Overload indicator light is on | Connected devices exceed generator capacity. | Disconnect some devices to reduce the load. |
