3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Battery Installation

The water timer requires one 'A' battery (not included). To install:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the timer.
  2. Open the compartment cover.
  3. Insert one 'A' battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2 Connecting to the Faucet

The water timer connects directly to your outdoor faucet.

  1. Ensure the faucet is turned off.
  2. Screw the timer's top connector onto the faucet until hand-tight. Do not overtighten.

3.3 Connecting the Hose

Attach your garden hose to the bottom outlet of the water timer.

  1. Connect your hose connector to the timer's outlet.
  2. Ensure a secure connection to prevent leaks.

4. Operating Instructions

The Gardena Pre-Set Basic Water Timer features two rotating knobs for easy programming.

4.1 Setting Watering Duration

Use the outer rotating knob (red/orange) to select the desired watering duration. Options typically range from 5 seconds to 120 minutes (2 hours).

4.2 Setting Watering Frequency

Use the inner rotating knob (blue/grey) to select how often the watering cycle should repeat. Options typically range from every 5 seconds to every 72 hours.

4.3 Manual Watering / +1h Button

The timer includes a '+1h' button for immediate, temporary watering or to extend a current cycle.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Filter

The water timer has an integrated filter to prevent debris from entering the system. Periodically check and clean the filter to ensure optimal water flow.

  1. Turn off the faucet and disconnect the timer.
  2. Remove the filter screen from the inlet.
  3. Rinse the filter under running water to remove any accumulated debris.
  4. Reinsert the clean filter and reattach the timer.

5.2 Battery Replacement

When the battery is low, the timer's indicator light may signal or the timer may cease to function. Replace the battery as described in Section 3.1.

5.3 Winter Storage

To prevent damage from freezing temperatures, remove the water timer from the faucet before the first frost. Store it in a dry, frost-free location. Remove the battery before storage.
