4. Setup Instructions

Proper setup ensures optimal performance and safety.

Connecting to an Air Source

  1. Ensure your air compressor is off and depressurized.
  2. Attach the included air regulator to the air inlet of the spray gun.
  3. Connect an appropriate air hose to the regulator using one of the provided 1/4" NPT air connector fittings (standard or automotive).
  4. Connect the other end of the air hose to your air compressor.
  5. Turn on the air compressor and adjust the regulator to the desired operating pressure (typically between 20-65 PSI, refer to paint manufacturer guidelines).

Preparing the Spray Gun

  1. Ensure the spray gun is clean and free of debris.
  2. Prepare your paint according to the manufacturer's instructions, including thinning if necessary.
  3. Pour the prepared paint into the 400cc aluminum cup. Secure the lid tightly.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for effective paint application.

Adjusting Controls

  • Pattern Control Knob: Located at the rear of the gun, this knob adjusts the spray pattern from a full, wide fan to a round, concentrated spray.
  • Fluid Control Knob: This knob regulates the amount of paint mixed with air. Turn clockwise to decrease fluid flow, counter-clockwise to increase.
  • Air Control Knob: Adjusts the overall air flow. Turn clockwise to decrease air flow, counter-clockwise to increase.
  • Air Cap Ring: Rotate the air cap ring at the end of the nozzle to adjust the direction of the spray fan (vertical for side-to-side spraying, horizontal for top-to-bottom spraying).

Spraying Technique

  1. Hold the spray gun approximately 6-8 inches from the surface.
  2. Press the trigger to the first step to initiate air flow.
  3. Press the trigger further to engage paint flow.
  4. Move the gun in smooth, even passes, overlapping each pass by about 50%.
  5. Release the trigger at the end of each pass to avoid paint buildup.
  6. Practice on scrap material to achieve the desired pattern and finish before applying to your project.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance extend the life of your spray gun and ensure consistent performance.

After Each Use

  1. Empty any remaining paint from the cup.
  2. Pour a small amount of appropriate cleaning solvent (e.g., paint thinner for oil-based paints, water for water-based paints) into the cup.
  3. Spray the solvent through the gun until it runs clear.
  4. Disassemble the air cap, nozzle, and fluid needle. Clean these components thoroughly with the cleaning brush and solvent.
  5. Clean the inside of the paint cup.
  6. Wipe down the exterior of the gun.
  7. Reassemble the gun, ensuring all parts are securely tightened.
