Lenco SCD-971 Boombox User Manual

Your guide to operating and maintaining your Lenco SCD-971 CD/Cassette Boombox.

Its compact and durable design makes it ideal for children and portable use. Please read this manual carefully before using the device to ensure proper operation and to maximize its lifespan.

Important Safety Instructions

Setup

Powering the Unit

The Lenco SCD-971 can be powered by either AC power or batteries, offering flexibility for both home and portable use.

AC Power Connection:

  1. Ensure the unit is switched off.
  2. Insert the AC power cord into the AC IN jack located at the back of the unit.
  3. Plug the other end of the power cord into a standard wall outlet (AC 230V ~ 50Hz).

Battery Operation:

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
  2. Insert 6 x C-size (UM-2) batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  4. When operating on batteries, disconnect the AC power cord.

Note: Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and damage.

General Controls Overview

CD Player Operation

  1. Press the STANDBY button to turn on the unit.
  2. Set the FUNCTION selector to "CD".
  3. Open the CD compartment door by gently lifting it.
  4. Place a CD with the label side facing up onto the spindle.
  5. Close the CD compartment door firmly until it clicks. The display will show "---" then the total number of tracks.
  6. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (►/▮▮) to start playback. The current track number will be displayed.
  7. To pause, press PLAY/PAUSE. Press again to resume.
  8. To stop playback, press the STOP button (■).
  9. To skip tracks, press NEXT (►►|) or BACK (◀◀|).
  10. To search within a track, press and hold NEXT or BACK during playback.

Radio Operation

  1. Press the STANDBY button to turn on the unit.
  2. Set the FUNCTION selector to "RADIO".
  3. Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal FM reception.
  4. Rotate the TUNING knob to select your desired radio station. The frequency will be shown on the display.
  5. Adjust the VOLUME knob to your preferred listening level.

Cassette Player Operation

  1. Press the STANDBY button to turn on the unit.
  2. Set the FUNCTION selector to "TAPE".
  3. Press the STOP/EJECT button to open the cassette compartment door.
  4. Insert a cassette tape with the open edge facing upwards.
  5. Close the cassette compartment door.
  6. Press the PLAY button (►) to start playback.
  7. To stop playback, press the STOP/EJECT button.
  8. To fast forward, press the F-FWD button. Press PLAY to resume.
  9. To rewind, press the REW button. Press PLAY to resume.
  10. To pause playback, press the PAUSE button (▮▮). Press again to resume.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Unit

Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for more than a few weeks.
